21 year olds (and those who turn 21 this month) can now book their COVID vaccines through the gov.uk site, (just in case anyone was unaware - I was).

I hope this isn’t a replica thread. I did have a look around for others.

Anyway, get nagging your young adults! Smile

Seems I was the last one to find out.

Yep. DS1 booked his yesterday! First appointment is a little over a week away.

It’s an encouraging acceleration, isn’t it?

OP posts:
SoupDragon · 17/06/2021 16:23

Yes. DS2 was annoyed as he's a year too young.

RickiTarr · 17/06/2021 16:26

Maybe next week or month? Most of DD’s friends are younger than her and irritated.

I’m guessing they’ve just had a massive delivery in time to shore up the new “freedom day” plans?

OP posts:
SoupDragon · 17/06/2021 16:26

He's just sent me a text to say he's booked! He's 20.

Maybe a Uni thing.

SoupDragon · 17/06/2021 16:27

That was kind of spooky.

RickiTarr · 17/06/2021 16:28

Yeah. Confused Is his his birthday soon?

Oh well. Everyone else already knew but our chat bent the universe for your DS2. 😁 👻

My DS (21) is in Bristol and the nearest vaccination centre is Bath, so although he could, he's waiting to see if there is a nearer vaccination centre that emerges over the next week or so. But it's good news.

Iknowtheanswer · 17/06/2021 16:31

Just on the BBC News that it's over 18s from tomorrow, so might be worth them trying now anyway.

That’s real acceleration then. It was 23 a couple of days ago.

Do you think it will work that way? More appointments added periodically?

DC1 is up north and has had to take an appointment miles away in a small town, despite having no car. Not ideal, but doable by bus, just. I’m just crossing fingers for no dizziness or anything afterwards. Sod’s law being what it is.

Nearly a year away!

Each time the age range has been dropped there’s been a rush in bookings and often they aren’t convenient locations. Give it a few days and try again, lots more then seem to appear. Really glad for the younger ones especially students and those working in public facing roles, often young.

That's where DS is and he has his at a prep school in Bristol.

It's worth keeping an eye out as the centres can change depending on when you look. DS1 said he was offered different ones whenever he looked.

It must just be huge local variations in capacity. DD’s is very local.

It can also depend on which centres have the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines in. I guess more centres will once the oldies having AZ have all been done.

ApolloandDaphne · 18/06/2021 11:41

23yo DD2 has hers booked for next week. She is in London and is getting it at the chemist at the end of her road! Very handy.

RickiTarr · 18/06/2021 17:04

End of the road sounds perfect. I do miss London sometimes!
