I like most of these apart from The Archers and a couple of the comedies mentioned (although I love the News Quiz, the Now Show, It's a Fair Cop, John Finnemore and Cabin Pressure).
I don't think anyone's mentioned The Long View. It's on Tuesday mornings. It looks at an incident from history, what that tells us about society at the time and compares it to something in the news. This week, for example, they discuss an attempted rape in 1875 and the current debate about the safety of women in public spaces.
There's a new series of Sideways starting on Wednesday. I really enjoyed the first series. It looked behind various phenomena such as women who were wrongly convicted of killing their babies because of an acceptance of expert testimony based on a lack of understanding of statistics. There was also a really good episode about Stockholm syndrome and how the writers who first wrote about it didn't understand the woman's behaviour (and it explained how brave and rational she was, and why it made sense for her to distrust the police and the government), largely because they didn't bother speaking to her.
Round Britain Quiz is easily the best quiz on the radio. The latest series has finished now but it's available on BBC Sounds.
Broadcasting House on Sunday mornings is a good magazine news programme.
From Our Own Correspondent on Thursday mornings has short reports from foreign correspondents which give you an insight into the countries which they are reporting from.
The fantasic I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue has just started a new series - Sunday lunchtime and Mondays at half past 6.
If you switch on Radio 4 and you don't find the programme which is on interesting, try switching to Radio 4 Extra which is basically the Radio 4 repeat/archive station.
