Do we need to isolate/test?

Posting here for quick advice.

DD had coronavirus early May, which then turned into a chest infection which she completed antibiotics for and was back to her normal self. She has been at nursery/grandparents for the last 2 weeks following the end of her isolation and cough going away and been much better.

However, she now has a cough again. It's a really painful sounding cough - like a bark, and she's coughing to the point she's nearly sick. She also is complaining of a sore tummy and is very tired etc. Likely this is a cold from being back at nursery, but given the cough do we need to get her tested again/isolate again?

Not sure how it works if she has already tested positive a month ago, had 2 weeks of being fine and is now coughing and not herself again. There have been positive cases in her nursery, but not her bubble if that makes a difference to the situation.

Very confused Confused

She may still show positive from last time

Yes, I'd read you can still test positive up to 90 days.

Just concerned it could be long covid/she has caught it again? If that's even possible? Trying to sleep beside her as she is continually coughing and panicking about what to do Sad

If you're worried about your child then ring 111. Why are you only focusing on covid?

@denverRegina on hold to 111 just now, was posting her for any similar experiences/advice

Was focusing on covid as that's what everyone says as soon as you say 'cough'

Sounds like it could be croup?

AGirlsGotToDo · 17/06/2021 00:30

Barking cough sounds like croup, which in itself is contagious. Keep an eye on her temp and breathing. Keep her off of nursery..

BoredOfThisShit · 17/06/2021 00:31

Is she struggling to breath?
Google the sounds for croup and whopping cough.
Could it be any of them?

Had her at out of hours during the night and they said the cough doesn't sound like croup or that - they are worried it's covid again.

Got a PCR test booked this morning and have to all self isolate again
