Folate is folic acid. Folic acid helps in the production of red blood cells. Low folate could well mean low red blood cell production. Are you anemic?

Hi OP. Folate is used by the body to produce red blood cells. Not enough folate = not enough red blood cells (aka anaemia). Most people in the UK are anaemic due to a deficiency of iron, but folate deficiency is pretty common to. So yes, folate and red blood cells are closely aligned. Hope that helps.
