Moving to Frome or surrounding area

I would like to hear from people living in and around Frome about the good and bad areas, what to avoid, what it's like to live in the area etc. Thinking of moving to Corsham, Frome or surrounding villages. Looking for good transport links to Bath, beautiful countryside, lots of activities and a friendly community. I know Bath and have visited Rode.

Don't live in Frome but just up the road in Wiltshire. The general area is lovely but am not aware of the best/worst areas in Frome, sorry. I think it's a bit overrated and overpriced to be honest but its always in the Times Best Places to Live guide, so perhaps it's just me. Certainly you'll get more for your money a bit further out. Frome to Bath is quite slow on the train between 45 mins and 1.15 as it goes via Trowbridge and the bus takes around the same time. Driving is 30 mins, traffic permitting. Lots has been written about it since it hit the Times list but I'm not sure anything suggests which are the best/worst parts to live.
Hope someone who lives there and can answer your queries comes along soon.

Thank you. I didn’t realise the train and bus took so long so that is useful to know. Best places to live in Wiltshire?

I live in Frome. It's a brilliant town, with lots going on, a strong sense of community and surrounded by lovely countryside and many nice villages. BUT it is suffering slightly from lots of people wanting to move here, I'm afraid - rising house prices pushing locals out in particular., and an increasing social divide. Also pressure on health service, schools etc - which will only get worse if some of the new developments projected around the town actually happen. No real bad areas , although some of the newer estates have a bit of a dodgy reputation (the one near Asda keeps being mentioned). Most incomers want to live in older properties, of which there are lots, although probably now a bit overpriced, and often quite small. The Bath commute can either be done by train (same train as goes to Bristol, so in normal times pretty crowded) or by bus, which is slow but there are lots of them. Many lovely villages, which gravitate to Frome, such as Beckington, Nunney and Mells, some of which have primary schools.
