Neighbour says I have their parcel!

Seemingly an opposite scenario as I often see posts about people saying their neighbour claims they don't have their parcel and that they've stolen it.

Today our neighbour came over to ask for their parcel (we're all new to the area if relevant, so don't know each other). We've only taken two parcels today for us, both things we've ordered and both definitely both addressed to us. I explained as much and they said the photo saying delivered to a neighbour showed our house? Nothing placed outside and we're a safely tucked away place so unlikely to have been stolen, plus we've been at home all day! We've taken a parcel for them before and given it that day. I feel weirdly guilty and bad, but have genuinely not seen hide nor hair of their parcel! Where do we stand with this? Should I go over again and ask for more info? We left it quite awkwardly - they clearly didn't believe us but the fault must be with the delivery company...

Ask to see the photo op.

Frownette · 15/06/2021 21:12

Have they got the card?

NBFJ364N · 15/06/2021 21:12

i second that...you need to see the photo

Another, need to see the photo

It was left so awkwardly - should we actively go over and ask to see the photo or leave it and see if they ask us again about it? They don't seem like chancers and I like to think we don't come across that way either!

I’d wait until you see them passing and ask if they got sorted, if they say no ask to see photo

Probably a mistake - I've had photos of supposed parcels for me but taken outside someone else's house

I would just leave it.

A few months back someone banged at the door while my nephew was visiting. I rarely answer random knocks at the door unless I am expecting someone or I can see on the cctv that its a courier/postperson. Nephew said it was a young man who claimed I had a "parcel for his mother". Nephew explained that I "do not take in parcels" and that he had the wrong house. Young man seemed determined that I had a parcel for his mother and nephew kept repeating. In the end nephew closed the door on him. We never got to the bottom of the matter.

Leave it. It is up to them to chase it up with who ever they purchased from. Not your problem
