Help with Australian cups conversion!

Hi, I've planned to make my Dad his favourite custard slices for father's Day using this recipe www.thecookingcollective.com.au/vanilla-custard-slice/, but I'm not sure how much an Australian cup of thickened cream is. I think that's whipping cream, but from what I've Googled a cup is 250ml, so it would need 1 litre of cream! Can that be right? It seems like a lot? I tried to find a UK recipe using custard powder and not creme patissiere, but failed. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That recipe says it makes 16 servings though. Could you just half the amounts and make less?
I’ve just been to check the cups I bought in New Zealand and it is 250ml for a cup.

Thickened cream is a whipping cream containing a thickener with a minimum fat content of 35 per cent

I have Australian cups. One whole cup is equivalent to 250ml.

Oh sorry, I jumped in without reading the OP properly.

I'm in NZ and 'thickened cream' is ready whipped and 'dollopable'. I can see how 16 servings would be a litre of that.

Also noticed that if you switch the conversion to US then the measures don't change anyway. Plus Nigella says "There is a difference between US and Australian cup measures - a US cup is 240ml and an Australian cup is 250ml. For most recipes the difference is small enough not to worry about, especially as cup measurements tend to be less accurate than weighing anyway, though if it really concerns you then remove 2 teaspoons from each cup".

Thank you all so much, I think the suggestion of making half the amount is a good one. I also feel reassured that I've not got the amounts wrong. Thanks for the UK recipe links ButIt, but none use custard powder and my Dad does like a yellow custard! Grin
