I bought a vase in a charity shop this morning. I was walking past the shop and had a gut feeling to look, hoping that they might just have the exact size & shape glass vase I've been unsuccessfully browsing for online.
can't explain it, my spidey senses tingling were tingling! and they were right this time, there it was, just perfect.

She looked at my purchase and said "this is nice" and I jokingly volunteered "yes, thanks, it's something I've wanted for a while and had a gut feeling you'll have it!"

her: "that's a nice feeling. I'll hope you have it for long. now wish that feeling back for me!"
me: "😳 ummmm....ok, I hope you have my gut feeling??" and I walked out.

how strange!🤣 who does that??

hope you all have a lovely afternoon and a good gut feeling!

Yay 😂

just sounds like someone who tends towards superstition and/or has something specific on her mind (which she did not share with you as you are a stranger to her) and somehow she thought your experience was "luck" which might rub off on her..........

Many of the volunteers in charity shops have conditions and invisible disabilities which either bar them from full time employment or they are there to learn the basics and get experience of customer facing roles before applying for paid employment.

I'm sure the woman meant she'd like you to say you hoped your good luck would 'rub off' on her too, but didn't have the ability to express that in that timeframe in terms you would understand.

It's a common superstition to pass good luck on.

She has probably started a thread about the strange woman who came into her charity shop because she had a gut feeling they would have the exact vase she wanted.

With blank times on this one.

Things can come out wrong all the time.

It wasn’t about the ‘gut feeling’ and just about the happiness when something turns out swell for you.

Seems a bit of a shame to laugh over it - any underlying difficulties or no.

Worriesome · 15/06/2021 17:14

I think she just meant pass some luck her way that’s all

People say weird stuff - I once had a hairdresser tell me I had eyes 'like a special cat' - I was thinking 'okaaaay, thanks,.. I think'

As long as she didn't ask if you wanted her to trim your whiskers.... Grin

partyatthepalace · 15/06/2021 18:08

She was asking you to wish her luck as you’ve just had luck... Confused

This. Or maybe English wasn't her first language and it lost something in translation before she said it?
