Nervously waiting, could do with a hand hold if there's one going spare?

In around 45 minutes we will find out if DH is a suitable candidate for a trial treatment for bile duct cancer. Regular chemo isn't really cutting it for him and his tumours are continuing to grow so we could really do with some good news (although I am banking on it NOT being good news because it is the only way I can cope right now). The wait is always the worst, right?

Great news! Just keep going.

Atalune · 15/06/2021 18:26

Thats great! Well done and I am sure that’s a good trial to be on!

Orchidflower1 · 15/06/2021 18:27

Pleased he can go into a trial, OP, and wish you both all the best. I work in healthcare communications, though not in this area. I couldn’t find anything on that specific trial but from the name I’m guessing it may involve drugs that block a molecule called porcupine, which is involved in cancer cell growth. These “porcupine inhibitors” have had promising results in early clinical trials in various cancers! (Or it maybe the professor just liked the sound of porcupine, who knows?!)
I do know there are some really great new drugs being developed at the moment that target the underlying mechanisms (rather than just blasting any growing cells, like chemo) and that UCLH is a world leading cancer research centre, so I hope they are able to help your husband Flowers

Hello, well it's not the one you thought, but it's still something right? X

I'm glad you've heard back - even if you had to chase and that there is something that can be tried. Good luck Flowers
