I've just seen DH's discharge notes from truly awful stay in hospital

I don't know what went wrong this time because he's always had good care there before but this time they misinterpreted his prescription so he wasn't getting the right pain relief, neglected his pressure sores, refused breakthrough pain relief, communication was terrible, were generally just very rude and uncaring both to DH and some very vulnerable patients around him. It was truly distressing to witness.

Anyway, his discharge notes say "has a very supportive wife". This is definitely code for "was a thorn in our side for his entire stay" Grin

Good for you! Sounds like an awful stay and if you were the one advocating for him, he's very lucky!

It's not just that. In my experience (worked 20 years in a hospital environment) means you are able and willing to actively engage in discussion about and carrying out his care and are intellectually able to advocate for him.

Yup, read this as you will get fobbed off looking after him when the hospital can't be arsed.

Well I'd definitely didn't get the impression they were pleased I was able to advocate for him (and other patients) while he was there Grin

Actually, it's not funny at all. It was heartbreaking to see what was happening to patients who didn't have anyone to fight their corner.
