Does very hot weather leave you feeling unwell?

First of all I do love summer as I detest winter but as I am getting older I am finding I can tolerate heat less and less.
I have IBS but I find in very hot weather like we have atm I am feeling permanently nauseous, my stomach feels totally unsettled, I am headachy, tired and achy. I have zero appetite in hot weather. I can’t go outside for long as I feel just shitty, which is a shame because I feel I should be getting out there as these good weeks are so few and far between here in the U.K.
I love spring, I adore warm, comfortable late summer months. I long for summer during the cold, grey miserable winter months but as each year goes by I find high summer such hard work on my body.

yes. I get more dizziness and more nearly toppling over

Thinking about it I need to get myself a drink and eat as well.

Another here with headache and sore guts .Exhausted ,stiff ,aching and painful joints .And hayfever .

It's an effort just to the basics ,can't garden .

What is the cure ?

ImaHogg · 14/06/2021 18:23

peridito I am hoping the short term cure will be the thunderstorm which is due later this week, hopefully it’ll take this oppressive feeling away 🤞

I cannot believe the difference in how I feel today - I'm in London and it's much cooler .

I thought I was just getting incredibly lazy/was ill/affected by the anti histamines/feeling my age .

Housework has been done .It's past 9.30 and I'm not in bed!

Does anyone know why migraines are more prolific in Summer?
Mine have ramped up significantly in summertime these last two years, but I don't know if its the heat, or the brightness (very sensitive to light) or possibly the associated dehydration that's the trigger?

frugalkitty · 18/06/2021 22:53

I don't enjoy the heat at all, primarily because of hayfever but also it makes my IBS flare and I'm noticing as I get older that I get headaches from being in the sun too. Plus, I get hot quickly so never know what to wear to be comfortable especially as I don't like to bare my legs which doesn't help. I like spring, I like autumn, I can put up with winter but summer I don't enjoy. And don't get me started on wasps!

I’m type 1 diabetic and it affects my blood sugar levels and makes me feel fatigued 😫

Worriesome · 18/06/2021 23:09

I didn’t even have to read your full post and came to say YES it makes me feel unwell. I get drowsy, headachey and generally feel ugh when it’s too warm. I like a gentle breeze x

Cam2020 · 18/06/2021 23:37

Sun is a migraine trigger for me. I have to make sure to stay hydrated and wear really dark sunglasses.

Silkiecats · 19/06/2021 01:54

Yes I feel awful in the heat now I'm older, when I was in my 20s or so it was only 30-35C plus which set me off but now can be anything from about 25C. I have to drink constantly to not get really dizzy, drowsy etc.

MorriseysGladioli · 19/06/2021 01:59

My feet swell, then my shoes rub, then they sweat and itch.
I also get headaches and feel short of breath in the heat.
I loathe it with a passion.
