I know, I know, silly of me but I did have high factor on regularly. But my legs are so so burnt. Swollen, feel like they are breaking....anyone any tips to ease this?

Ouch, horrid

Painkillers

Aloe if you have it/ after sun (No moisturiser with oils in as they trap the heat) - as soon as possible

Loose clothing

Cool bath/ showers only (no heat)

BoredOfThisShit · 13/06/2021 23:58

Have u got something like sudocrem?
Its good for burns

Are you blistered? Feel ill at all?

Nannyamc · 13/06/2021 23:59

Tomatoes?

Veryverycalmnow · 14/06/2021 00:01

Calomine lotion, sudacrem anything you'd put on eczema or nappy rash. Drink loads of water.

MrsTaytodarling · 14/06/2021 00:02

Thanks all, I've taken painkillers which didn't help. I've aloe plant, didn't help, aftersun didn't help, sudocrem didn't help Sad

Have a cool shower, put a thin layer of sudocrem on and then sleep without too much on-eg pyjama shorts and a vest. Putting a fan on will help too. Drink lots of water and some pain killers if necessary as well.

ValerieMorghulis · 14/06/2021 00:02

Ibuprofen and a long sit in a lukewarm (not cold) bath

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 14/06/2021 00:03

Have you tried just running cold water over them. Same as you would any other burn?

Graphista · 14/06/2021 00:09

For now as it's so late -

Number one - stay hydrated - don't try and drink loads just constant sips of water

A tepid bath NOT a shower a shower will sting PAT yourself dry when you get out or even just place a folded towel on bed or chair and let yourself dry naturally

When you get out of the bath if you've no after sun or calamine or anything dampen some kitchen roll or tissues or flannels with cold milk or indeed yogurt and apply to affected areas BUT don't leave in situ as you don't want them sticking to the skin

If aloe etc isn't helping that sounds more serious to be honest and perhaps a trip to a&e is needed? Can u post a pic?

May at least be worth calling nhs line to check in.

I've had a lot of sunburn over the years (I'm a redhead) but if aloe and painkillers aren't helping I think you may need proper medical help.

They won't think you silly, it can be serious and it can be really bloody painful!

Charliemaxmac · 14/06/2021 00:17

I would use aloe vera....very natural and easy to find. also very cheap!

BoredOfThisShit · 14/06/2021 00:20

Youve tried 3 things and they didnt help?
When is the sunburn from?

If you cover in a thin layer of sudo,
They will feel better by tomorrow

Nothing is an instant fix.
They are burnt !

Anti histamine tablets should help

Garman · 14/06/2021 00:21

And throw out your suncream because it must be out of date if you got that burned while wearing it.

BoredOfThisShit · 14/06/2021 00:26

Was your sunburn from last year?

BoredOfThisShit · 14/06/2021 00:27

Suncream i mean?

notapizzaeater · 14/06/2021 00:29

Yoghurt, fan, water. Anti histamine to reduce inflammation.

If still really struggling bring 111 for advice - I've known people hospitalised fir bad sunburn

olidora63 · 14/06/2021 00:37

Anti inflammatory and after sun 💐

Tavelo · 14/06/2021 00:41

I second what a PP said about aloe vera. It's so good for any burns, from the sun or from heat. If you can get some aloe vera gel slather it on it'll really help it heal faster. Sunburn can be so painful, at least the legs aren't the worst place to have it!

xjox1983 · 14/06/2021 00:58

Milk works wonders
Just dab it on affected areas
But also ring 111

MrsTaytodarling · 14/06/2021 09:10

Thanks everyone....the suncream is a new bottle and I had it on the kids and they have no burns thankfully...

@Garman

Not necessarily. I’m burnt in places from Saturday despite regularly reapplying factor 30 from a new bottle. My fault for going with 30 and not 50 I think, but I wasn’t necessarily expecting to burn while wearing the sun cream.
FunnyWonder · 14/06/2021 10:24

If nothing works, try speaking to a pharmacist. I burnt my arm so badly when I was a teenager, that there was a massive scab running from my shoulder to my elbow. I never felt pain like it. I got the sunburn the day before going on a week long trip with my youth club, so only realised the extent of it after I left home. My only option was to go to a pharmacist and I was given an antibiotic emollient ointment which was fantastic. That area of my arm still has millions of freckles now compared with the rest of my skin all these years later.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 14/06/2021 10:26

Ouch, funny.
