hi posting for traffic as other boards are very slow

ok been on Pip for the last few years and 5 months ago had a decision on a review from enhanced down to standard (have never been awarded mobillty)

was hoping for mobility as i now have Osteoarthritis in one knee and am now finding im using taxi's more using a cleaner etc and is making simple things more difficult which i put in my review

like many i just put up with a lowering of the money and not ?? the mobility part but 5 months on im in real pain and often use crutxhes and just cant do what i used to do its had a massive impact

have a consultant appointmet mid july but he has already seen xrays and said im looking at a knee replacment

does anybody know what is the procedure for looking at the claim again and if its worth it and whats involved

any thanks

From my , very limited, experience you just ring PIP up and tell them you have a change in circumstances and want your claim reassessed. They'll send you the forms again and you have to do the whole lot over again. They will try to warn you off on the phone by saying that you could get wiped altogether if you have your claim looked at again but I think this is just to let you know that it does happen.

I have done this before for my Mother and got awarded care and mobility enhanced rate for her however I do know of people who have asked and not been successful but thankfully don't know of anyone who had it lowered.

Citizens advice or a local benefits help office (sometimes a community worker) are usually quite good at doing the forms if it fills you with dread.

Also, just to add, the mobility element is quite tough to get so maybe consider whether it's worth applying if you don't have the evidence to show your condition really affects your mobility and impacts your life every day not just on flare ups etc.
