Could somebody explain this maths question to me?

The answer is 6 but I don't understand how to arrive at the answer to explain it to DD:

Ravi divides a large number by a smaller number.
The remainder is 5.
Which of these numbers could he have divided by?

2
3
4
5
6

Thanks!

The remainder number has to be less than the dividing number otherwise it wouldn’t be a remainder it would be a multiple - I’m not sure if that makes sense!

6
no other number could leave a remainder of 5!

It can only be 6.

Divide by 2 can only be a whole number or remainder 1.
Divide by 3 can only be a whole number, remainder 1 or 2
Divide by 4 can only be a whole number, remainder 1, 2 or 3
Divide by 5 can only be a whole number, remainder 1, 2, 3 or 4.

So the only one that can have a remainder 5 is divide by 6.
