Does anyone have any experience of living in a "Park Home"

Like a caravan site only small bungalows.

I'd really like to downsize, but all small property round here is terraced and/or in a grotty area. I can't face the thought of attached neighbours ever again Grin I want a smaller house, but I don't want a less nice environment.

I do like the idea of a small plot, low maintenance property and some amenities on site.

There must be some downsides though? They seem very expensive for what they are and there's the maintenance charges, but they seem quite reasonable considering what's included.

Do you or maybe your parents live in one?

Me and wife had 2 park homes when you sell you have to give owner 10 per sent also ground rent was £235 a month. Owner never did anything its not a cheap way to live my advice don't even consider a park home. How ever if you do want to buy one do your home work . Especially who owns the site you will be surprised we live in a one bed bungalow now

Just sold one back to the site after 10 years at a loss it was not pleasant at all moving to Lincolnshire buying a older park home was a disaster firstly it forever needs repairing walls need cutting out the wooden rotten areas.moving from a city at the lower age did not help as the old folks like to gossip & make stories and report me to the site about the garden trying to reason with them was impossible. Racist attitude as they regarded me as a foreigner as I had a foreign name. So for me it was not a pleasant experience and I would never want to live in one again.

Be very careful buying a park home we bought one in Dorset very modern too notch appliances on what could have been a nice site. The owner never kept to his promise re the site , pulled down the social club with promises to build another one which never happened. The owner wasn’t very pleasant to deal with .The ground rent went up every year . The biggest problem is they are very very difficult to resell & the law in England is that you have to pay the site owner 10% of the sale price , we managed to sell after 2 years of trying & had to give the owner £30,000. Never again !! Stick to bricks & mortar.

I live on a residential Park when I moved here I was Married and things OK but I have been on my own for 5 years and no one is friendly in fact they are hostile , couples don't want you around . I find it a very lonely place to live . It may be just this site .
