Denmark and return same day Quarantine?

We were hoping to make it to Denmark to celebrate a special occasion for my 14yrDD's best friend who lives there.

Being an Amber country and with my second jab due the week after we arrive home, it now seems unrealistic that we'll make it as a family.

However, DD is testing twice a week and as I understand it, same quarantine rules do not apply to children.

I've looked to send her alone and be collected at other end. But, Ryan Air (only option) don't allow children to travel alone.

Google hasn't helped and I'm on hold to Ryan Air, but wondered if anyone had experience or knowledge of the rules: if I had a negative test, accompanied her on the flight and flew straight back, would I still need to quarantine?

I think you would - though I doubt whether there is guidance for this precise scenario.

Logically, you would be in the same position as someone from the EU coming to UK. They have a negative test but are still required to quarantine. They also need to buy the test package.

Seems to me that the testing and quarantine regime for incoming passengers from areas with a lower incidence of Covid than UK is all about stopping people travelling - not about protecting from Covid.

Border Force is overwhelmed checking documents even now so they do not want more people travelling.

Nah you'll be alright. Its like the 3 second rule - covid edition.

Yes, you still have to quarantine I'm afraid, as soon as you step off the plane.

How old is your child?
At what age do quarantine rules apply?

From government website re quarantine on return:

Testing and quarantine rules for children

Children aged 4 and under do not need to take the day 2 or day 8 test.
Children of all ages need to quarantine at home or in the place they’re staying for 10 full days (the day of arrival in England is day 0).

Thanks all!

Ryan Air has disconnected me three times.

That coupled with your feedback - I'm taking it as a no-go.

Thank you!

I'm sorry you cannot visit your DDs friend but glad it is less money for the horrid nasty Mr O'Leary as a result.

I hear you.

Original plan was to go into Copenhagen and by train the rest of the way.

But the mitigation plan led us to the inevitable budget airline :(

Of course you'd have to quarantine. You've sat in a tin can full of recycled air in close proximity to 100+ people for about 3 hours.
