As the title says. She's in Yr 9, right in the middle of a week of school exams and tonight has developed a temp of 38.4. No other symptoms. COVID test negative (lateral flow one). Would you send her in to sit the exams?? Normally I would give a day off after a high temp at this time of night but exams! She has Art, DT and computer science tomorrow, none of which she is taking for GCSE.

What do others think?? Push on through regardless or miss the day? Could easily resit if needed, but not sure they'd bother.

Ah, the worst timing :( hopefully a negative result and she can be back to school on Monday

@OrangeSharked

She still needs to get a covid teat. And yes needs to be off for 48 hrs post last vomit as a minimum (assuming pcr is negative). The whole family needs isolate until the test is back. We are well over a year into this I cant believe this still needs explaining

They are year 9 exams. They really don't matter. Its hardly like she's missing her A levels. Yes its good practice to sit them but if you don't it won't effect her a jot.

I know, I know. I was falsely reassured by the lateral flow test so didn't really think of COVID issues.

PCR test done, so now we wait.....she's tucked up on the sofa Smile

The school have been really good and they're emailing over the exam papers so she can do them at home. Although I have no idea how we're going to do DT at home?!?

If she’s ill don’t try to force her to sit them at home. There should be provision for her to catch up when she gets back to school, she won’t be the only one who has missed some.

The nerve of the school! She's ill, how would you feel if your employer emailed meeting papers to you when you were off sick? Good grief.

G3ntlemanJ · 10/06/2021 13:07

Oh no, she'll only sit them at home if she's 100% well.
