Can I get my DC's colours done?

I had mine done a few years back and it's been great. Really worth it.

Anyway, DC wore a certain red T-shirt today and it really made his eyes pop! Looked lovely on.

I was wondering, could I actually get DC's colours done like I had mine done? Surely a department store wouldn't object?

I'd pay the same price of course.

Do you think they'd do it for us?

🤣

I’m sure a colour consultant would do it for the same price although they might think you’re a bit bonkers

Is your DS really bothered about what colours suit him?

AyyMacarena · 09/06/2021 23:23

Where did you get it done and how much did it cost?

Also, why does a professional need to tell you this?

BarbaraWoodlouse · 09/06/2021 23:27

I have a friend who is a House of Colour consultant and she was saying she increasingly has young adults and adolescents coming to her. I think a lot of it is related to finding their identities and self confidence. So yes, you could definitely get your son’s colours done and possibly even a nice mum & child package.

Or you could just buy more red tshirts. 😉

No, leave him alone. Colours are to be enjoyed not turned into some complicated seasonal algorithm for the benefit of people looking at you.

I'd stop dressing my kids in clothes that make their eyes pop. Who wants popping eyes?

I think that young people can wear whatever colours they like and still look amazing. It is only since I hit my 40s that I've noticed that I look terrible in certain colours.

You don't say how old he is, but I think unless he's well into adolescence and actually interested in such things, it would be enough to say 'that colour really suits you'. If he cares, he'll remember in future.

Largely, people either suit warm colours with a yellowish base or cold colours with a blueish base. If it was a true blueish red then he is cold and if it more orange then he suits warm. If it in doubt try mustard or orange - only suits warm people. Depth can matter. One of my sons who has very light skin, near black hair and brown eyes suits bright true red best and the other with less contrast with light skin, mid brown hair and blue eyes suits mid blue and they are both "cold". My husband is a bit disappointed I think that neither got his auburn hair!

Allegedly you can't do it for children because they "always shine" Hmm Which probably tells you it's a load of rubbish.

That said I do quite like having my palette. I typed myself - there are some really good guides online to do it. It's not that hard to do.

First you figure out whether he's warm-toned or cool-toned. Warm is Spring/Autumn and cool is Summer/Winter. Warmer toned people have more olive skin, redder hair colours (strawberry blonde through ginger to auburn) and tend to suit gold rather than silver in jewellery, whereas cool-toned people have paler skin (or dark but not in an olive way) and pale blonde, black, or brown hair without a reddish tint. Tend to suit silver rather than gold.

Eye colour comes into it as well but I forget how.

Then you can break it down into the main season type.

Then if you want to you can break it down further into the tonal season.

You can, I follow red leopard on Instagram and they have showed a few children up to teenagers having them done

I want mine doing as working it out online has never worked for me!

Like this kind of thing.
