Hi. It's a 6 hour trip which I can't be bothered with but husband wants to go.

I've looked at Haven but all the activities seem to be booked up.

Prefer a place with an outdoor area and kitchen plus entertainment / pub for night please.

2 kids aged 9 and 11 too.

Thanks x

Have a look in the Porthtowan area.
I know there's accomodation literally on the beach (above the ice cream shop!) but I don't know how busy it is when you're thinking about coming down.

It's a lovely beach though.

trevornick in Holywell is awesome

Have a look at Woods Holiday Park, Bude. They have units to rent as well as taking tourers and tents. Fantastic facilities for children, lively bars, yes, more than 1 and Bude is lovely.

Should say Wooda Park.

  • or Perranporth.
Newquay currently is unpleasantly busy - as in, not comfortable to be in, queues out of the doors, walking in the road kind of busy. Just outside the town (Cubert/Crantock/Polly Joke) might be worth looking at, but might be too quiet for the kids?

Hendra was nice when I used to live in Newquay though - www.hendra-holidays.com/

Depends when you want to go. Our apartment in central Newquay is booked right through till early September. I would check what's available for the dates you want on airbnb etc. At that age my son was in the sea all day every day of our holiday with a bodyboard, no need to book activities.
We're in our apartment in Newquay now as it's the only chance we'll get. I wouldn't describe it as unpleasantly busy, though of course people always seem to wander in the road on holiday for some reason.

There are plenty of lovely places further afield in Cornwall though ie Perranporth and Bude as pps have said.

I'm a miserable arse though @3beesinmybonnet, my favourite time in Newquay is October - I love it when it's bleak and windswept. I have such lovely memories of living there.

Give my love to Pentire Head! (I live near St Agnes now!)

@MrsRussell
So envious of you living near St Agnes - such a lovely place. I remember when the seal sanctuary was there many years ago. We also love Newquay and the surrounding coast in winter especially when it's stormy. I don't know if we'll get to Pentire Head this time but I'll give it a wave from you Grin

Hello Everyone

I'm close to buying a house in St Columb Minor Newquay,
but were not that great on our feet mum's getting on
and my legs aren't great,

does anyone know of any local walks not that far away, that
are very nearby in the area, or if there area can be a little lonely
being away from main town.

I know Porth & Porth Beach is about mile away, and newquay itself about 15-20 mins by bus as we don;t drive.

would be great to hear from someone who is local out there, with their own thoughts and whether my mum and I are making a mistake.

thank you all in advance.

I love St Agnes, but lots of lovely places in Devon are quieter than Cornwall. I won't visit Cornwall until September.

I went to Bristol for a week recently - lovely and fairly quiet as everyone in Cornwall!

St Columb Minor is really lovely, easy accessible to Newquay and Porth beach yes right there. Do you have children? The park is lovely up near Co Op. I used to work in St Columb Minor and would say very friendly area but havent lived there so dont know for sure. Lots of lovely walks and beaches at Newquay for sure.
