Hi, received this email from a wholesaler today it says we cannot sell you this brand for pre order if you are from Scotland. Just wondered what anyone else thinks this means.

Doesn’t look like a kosher email. Don’t get offended, just delete.

MoawMoaw · 09/06/2021 15:36

Well what is the item? Assuming it's not illegal in Scotland or anything, I would guess this is to do with delivery charges. They might be using a courier which doesn't operate in Scotland, and have decided that the likely Scottish customer base is not enough to make it worth their while arranging a second courier for Scottish orders.

This does not come as a surprise to me - I'm from the Highlands, and many many things are not deliverable to me, or cost ten times more!

Palavah · 09/06/2021 15:36

What's the product? If Scottish licensing laws or other regs prevent sale to addresses in Scotland then they don't have a choice.

Scottishskifun · 09/06/2021 15:36

That's very bizarre they might not deliver to Scotland though.
I've had orders cancelled in the past stating they didn't deliver this far north..... (I'm not on Shetland UK mainland! 😂)

Justin21 · 09/06/2021 15:37

Hi, I actually have ordered off this website before.

PerhapsCarriageGreen · 09/06/2021 15:38

I imagine it is to do with different licensing laws, and absolutely zero to do with them taking issue with anyone living Scotland. Grin

Scottishskifun · 09/06/2021 15:38

If its alcohol then they aren't allowed to do deals and with standard pricing makes it difficult.

Mintini? Baby clothes?

StarryStarrySocks · 09/06/2021 15:41

Yep if it's alcohol it's totally understandable.

ProudDada · 09/06/2021 15:43

Actually the alcohol minimum pricing laws in Scotland, doesn't apply to items purchased and dispatched from a business in England.

Justin21 · 09/06/2021 15:49

Hi it is to order baby clothes from a wholesaler.

Perhaps there is a retailer in Scotland that has exclusive rights to this brand? I very much doubt it's just because they don't like Scottish people!!!

Justin21 · 09/06/2021 15:56

I thought that maybe someone had exclusive rights too, but surely in a radius not the whole of Scotland.

OP posts:
Peach01 · 09/06/2021 16:05

Could you just ask them why? Must be something to do with their shipping. Mintini themselves ship to Scotland, along with so many other places that sell the brand.

Justin21 · 09/06/2021 16:18

Yes I could ask them I suppose but I have ordered this brand before and received my order no problem, just do not understand why there is a problem now.

MichelleScarn · 09/06/2021 16:19

Mintini def ship to whole of UK, even Highlands @MoawMoaw Grin the actual website looks more polished than the original pic so id doubt its authenticity.

MournfulTromboneNoise · 09/06/2021 16:21

That's a quality graphic. They can keep their baby clothes. Wink

Justin21 · 09/06/2021 16:31

This is a wholesaler who sells on behalf of Mintini and they have said that basically new rules have came into force via Mintini for any preorders, and one of the specifications are that they cannot take preorders for winter collection for Scotland.

Naah that just sounds rubbish, have never found any UK wholesalers or companies that won't deliver up here unless as pp have said its Highlands and Islands and even then most do just with a delay and higher charges.
