I once tried to cook rice on an Aga.

Just reinforced my belief that voluntarily buying an appliance that uses 70+ year old technology - AND PAYING A PREMIUM FOR IT - is fucking insane.

Get an Everhot. Far superior, lower running costs, much more flexibility, British made (Aga no longer is sadly) and all around amazing cookers!

I was told by a friend who has had a few agas that electric ones are the best. She is having a new electric one installed imminently when they get to the kitchen stage of their major house refurbishment. I would imagine it's expensive to run, but no idea how much so or how it compares to the running costs of gas or oil fired ones.

Everhot. That’s all

Iwant2move · 08/06/2021 21:34

Aga rice is the best thing ever.

Cost a fortune to run. We plan to stick with an oil vaporiser burner as no servicing costs and cheaper than electric to run.

My MIL has one. She has no idea how to work it (she’s always had oil ones).
It does some sort of night storage thing - but because she doesn’t understand it (and the online manual is no help), in reality it means by the evening you can’t even boil water on it. Ridiculous 😬

We've got a 10 year old 30amp night storage aga. Parts are expensive but I've just discovered reconditioned parts which will hopefully do the job at a fraction of the price. It's lovely for 9 months of the year and then we switch it off for the summer.

We can still boil a kettle on ours at night time 🤣

EversoDelighted · 08/06/2021 21:44

We considered it and then ordered an Everhot instead.
