Creepiest house you've ever lived in

Come on.. I want to know what, if any, was the creepiest house you've ever lived in. I love anything woo.. and I would love to read your stories.

I'll start, my parents house is a new build, built 18 years ago. And it has never, ever felt right. So many unexplainable things:

  1. There was a loud bang in the kitchen cupboard then about 2 minutes the ironing board came flying out with such force it knocked the kick board off the kitchen unit.
  1. Once we were all in bed and there was such a loud, frantic knock on the patio doors outside. No one there.
  1. Something poked my mam in the bum! (No seriously) she was stood in the en-suite taking her make up off and she said a gnarly long finger gave her a hard jab in her left arse cheek.

I could go on...

We lived overseas and the front door used to rattle. My DH always said it was the wind but it was hardly ever windy. One night my DD and I were in the sitting room watching tv and the door started rattling again. The front door opened into the sitting room so was always double locked.

Suddenly the front door flew open and it felt like a whoosh entered the room! My DD screamed and ran upstairs. I checked the door and the lock was still in the locked position.

My DH said the wind blew it open...

I once rented a lovely house that had a filled in cellar - you could see two of the steps leading down to it in the cupboard under the stairs.

Next doors cat used to pop round for a chat, then sit in front of the cupboard under the stairs door, then leap up almost vertically and run off at speed as if startled.

We lived for a while in a very old house built in the 1700s onto an existing Medieval dwelling. So it had older parts and newer parts and was on three floors. My OH was alone in it one night , sleeping in the middle floor. Above the bedroom was a long corridor with bedrooms and a bathroom. On that night he heard footsteps walking around on the top floor. He went upstairs to investigate and when he came to the end of the corridor where there was a bedroom, had an feeling of dread and foreboding. He felt if he opened the door he would see something awful. So he went back to bed..
One of the famiiy always said there was something on a particular part of the landing up there.
It never happened again.

When I was a baby I used to spend time upstairs above the pub that belonged to my parents' friends (my parents used to help out occasionally). Everyone said they used to see a dark figure appearing and disappearing in the pub. Once my mum heard my bottle drop out of my travel cot onto the wooden floor (something I did a lot!) and she came up. She heard me cry but I stopped suddenly. When she got to me I had my bottle again. She checked the rooms - no one there.

The one where my aunt and her family lived.

She made pastry one day. She went to answer the phone. When she came back, she found small handprints in the pastry - she was alone in the house.

Beautiful house, but very creepy.

Bumping this as I enjoyed reading it a few months ago!

Back in the early 70s we moved to a farmhouse. Within a few weeks my 10 year old DB started seeing the ghost of an old man, allegedly. The first my parents knew of it was the vicar visiting them because he was concerned (my DB had confided in the vicar after a school assembly). My parents just laughed and apologised for my DB winding the vicar up.

They stopped laughing when the vicar admitted the previous owners had also asked his advice about the same ghost. He offered to bless the house, but my parents put it straight up for sale.
