Nearly 4 year old won't attempt to draw or write his name

DS is four in July and has never drawn a picture that isn't a messy scribble. He's got the dexterity to but just isn't interested at all. Any mark making is just a messy scribble.

I'm trying to not let it worry me but all his peers are writing words etc

How can I encourage him or do I just need to wait until he's interested?

Do get his eyes tested though, it’s free for children

That is a really good suggestion. My DS is long sighted and that could have been part of his reason fir not wanting to write or colour.

My DD turned 4 last month and only in the last 2 weeks has started showing any interest; I spoke to nursery about it and they’ve been giving a lot of encouragement which really helped. I decided not to stress as I didn’t want to make learning feel stressful for her

Nearly four, it's more normal to not write anything. My DS went to school at just turned five with no knowledge of the alphabet/letters or his name and prior to school no desire to know them. He's heading to Oxbridge college in Sept.

He's only three. He will get there when he is ready. Don't rush things.
