Any recommendations for a travel cot for 18month old?

He likes his space and is quite fussy 🤣🙄. We’re going away for a few nights and I’m aware he won’t sleep brilliantly anyway but would like a good chance. We’re having a staycation, any recommendations for his age group? X

A staycation? I thought that meant staying at home and doing days out. But maybe you mean a U.K. holiday?

Most self catering accommodation will provide a travel cot on request. So you might get away without buying one yourself. However they can be useful to have (eg for visiting family/friends).

My advice is to get a big one so DC has plenty of space and it lasts as long as possible. We have one which is standard cot size, the mattress is 60cm x 120cm. It's Hauck - Dream N Play I think. Folds/unfolds easily.

Also IME travel blackout blinds really help, especially if you have them in DC's room at home.

Does he sleep in a cot or a toddler bed at home? At that age, mine were in a toddler bed so liked their toddler ReadyBeds for holidays. We had a Gruffalo one Smile

The dimensions of travel costs rarely lend themselves well to that toddler age group. You also need to check the weight limit otherwise they can topple over if he stands up in it. We had a readybed which they tended to sleep in ok once asleep (the novelty of being able to escape compared to the big cot at home meant you usually had to stay with them until asleep) or if there's a single bed at the property I'd invest in a bed guard and put him in it.

There is a single bed, how would it work with a bed guard? Any recommendations on them I’m clueless and just worried sick he’ll fall out. Although he does wear a sleeping bag so would be hard to her leg over to get out.
He’s in a cot bed now which will convert to toddler bed x

When DC1 outgrew the travel cot, I looked at the ReadyBed but decided against it, I got the Intex Kidz Travel Bed instead (available from Amazon and Argos). We've used it quite a bit, it's good quality and has growing room (DC1 is still 4 and fits).

Bed against the wall, guard on the other side, child in bed, wall stops them rolling out of one side and guard stops them rolling out of the other. If they’re used to a smaller cot they’re unlikely to go far in a single bed!
