Teenager/food/ASD

Those who have teens with ASD, what do they eat? My son is very fussy with food as he doesn't like a lot of different textures and I worry about his diet.

Hates things like tomatoes that have a wet, mushy texture. Same for soup, doesn't like lasagne etc.

He's growing at the moment and I think needs to increase his calories but how do I do it without him just going for junk?

He likes pizza with only cheese, crisps, plain croissants, grapes - very bland foods. I feel like all he eats are plain carbs.

Any advice?

Although not my own, I have worked with teens with restricted diets due to Sensory difficulties. It’s really tough!
Can you give any further info on things he will eat? Any veg? Meat? Fish? Eggs? Nuts?
It’s usually best to work from familiar ingredients then slowly introduce small tweaks and new but similar things.

Both my children have an ASC. Both have massive food issues. Both prefer 'beige' food.can hav have done is have one meal a week where we all try a new thing.
I make sure that there is something in the meal they will like and all I ask is that they try it. If they don't like it nothing is said and they can have a 'safe' but boring substitute eg bread and butter etc. They don't get a whole new meal.
They are trying new things and are eating more widely but it has been a case of 'softly softly, slowly, slowly' over the past couple of years.

Ds is similar

He will eat pasta mixed with Philadelphia or a tomato and marscarpone sauce (no lumps) I can hide chia seeds in the sauce sometimes
Super noodles (no flavouring)
Plain boiled rice
Pizza as long as it’s not too cheesy
Chips, waffles, hash browns etc
Yorkshire puddings (we do home made ones with an extra egg in the mix)
Fish cakes
Peas, carrots, Sweetcorn, green beans
Popcorn chicken
Breakfast cereal (I buy Weetabix protein crunch as I struggle to get protein in him)
Bread & butter
Crisps
