Is there a gunky throat lurgy doing the rounds?

Not Covid, I tested as soon as I felt unwell.
I thought it was hayfever at first but I’ve got a throat that feels like there’s gunk in it and I have to keep clearing it only it never clears and feels a bit sticky and thick when I swallow (boak)
It’s not sore and I feel a bit headcoldy with it and seems to either feel dry or gunky.
Weirdly I felt better during the day and it’s come back at night - it was bad last night as well.

Is this a thing that’s going around? I thought it might be hayfever as the pollen count is high but it seems a bit much for that

I’m grateful not to feel worse but it’s very irritating and I’m finding it hard to fall asleep as I’m clearing my throat every three seconds!

Yes, I've had it for what feels like forever. Full head, thick throat, sneezes.

Dd has it now as well.

I had AZ, she hasn't had anything

Yes we’ve all had this over the last few weeks and it’s lingering - if you can get a cold medicine with pseudoephedrine (day nurse, or the sudafed with that ingredient). Needs to be bought OTC rather than off the shelf but I’ve found it’s been quite good for this

I’ve had it about 4 weeks. Lost my voice for a few days, now just so. Much. Mucus. 🤢 definitely worse at night, lying down aggravates it I think. Husband just starting to get symptoms now, daughter had them first at the end of April and is still coughing!

Oh and I had AZ jab in March, husband had moderna last week...works the same as pfeizer I think?? But more likely he just caught it from me tbh.

My mum had this too and a negative covid test, turned out to be some new and weird and/or intensified allergy (had only ever had mild hayfever before)

@NewPapaGuinea

Those who’ve tested covid negative, was that a LFT or PCR? Just booked a PCR just in case.
Both!

Loads of people at my son's school and the Trust where I work have had this - I think it is something doing the rounds.

PCR for us.

DH and I both had AZ 4 weeks ago. Just talking to my SIL who appears to be our patient zero and she had her second Pfizer the day after we had ours so I don’t think it’s vaccine related.

It could be an allergy, but that's how I started with Strep throat and honestly I felt more ill than I've ever felt in my life with that :(. So if it doesn't clear, get it checked.

WhatMattersMost · 03/06/2021 10:10

Yes, I have this. Feel totally listless too. I'm taking a PCR test just in case.

BeastforLease · 03/06/2021 10:15

I also have this, I thought allergies too as my hay fever is awful, but feels more like strep throat now.

Expected I guess as we all come out of lockdown with our now rubbish immune systems!
