Tips on dog hairs !

We rescued a lovely little cocker spaniel a few months ago.

I am not coping with the amount of dog hair that she produces. She sheds profusely. I find hairs EVERYWHERE. I found one in my lurpak this morning !!

I probably know the answer to this ... but... is there anything I can do to either help with the shedding or stop the hairs getting everywhere? I brush her most days and hoover wipe down constantly.

What sort of vacuum do you have? Miele pet always gets lots of recommendations here, but I've never had one myself because they're too expensive for me.

She will be moulting at the moment due to the season but this should calm down when it gets colder.

Other than brushing her which you're already doing, your only other option is to have her clipped - personally I never clipped my spaniel (sadly no longer with us) because I loved his long hair, but I know some people do keep their coats short.

I would brush daily. And outside! I never groom mine in the house if I can avoid it.

Get a pug and realise how lucky you are. Seriously daily brushing, regular baths and lots of hoovering.

I didn't realise how bad pugs were, it's the only thing I would change.

I have a cordless shark. I dont love it if I'm honest but it was expensive so can't justify replacing it while its working fine. It was a very disappointing purchase.

I tried getting her a really good hair cut but that didn't help.

I have the same problem except not a cocker spaniel. I have to sweep. Mop and hoover every day, put throws over all sofas and chairs and just try to keep on top of it.

Yes, the Shark always gets mixed reviews here. I do sympathise, I sometimes used to fill a carrier bag with a day's shed from my spaniel in the summer. The vacuum barely touched it so I had to use a stiff broom to get it up from the carpet.

Perhaps keep an eye on the sales for a different vacuum. If it's a case of being unable to justify it rather than being unable to afford it, you could keep the Shark for areas less used by your dog, e.g. upstairs. In theory if you have two vacuums they'll last longer and a spare isn't a bad idea.

I use a furminator brush on my spaniel. It gets out a lot of loose hair so I find he sheds less after a good brush. They have a few different types depending on the coat/breed type. I have the orange for mine.

Welcome to spaniel life! My springer is the same!
I find that keeping him cut short and groomed often helps. He is also a water lover so goes in some form of lake/puddle/sea most days which also helps.
But it comes with the territory!
