What is the cheapest TV package

I'm helping a vulnerable person on a low income. They want a bit more than the basic channels but can't afford to pay £50 for sky or virgin. I am clueless and don't know where to start.
Can he get Now TV for free? Or something else?

Any help very gratefully received

You get shit loads on free view? What do they want? Any of the premium channels only come with expensive subscriptions.

Free view (tv license) + Netflix?

Guess it'll depend on what TV they have. Assuming is not 'smart' then can get a free view/freesat box that you can get things like Netflix through. You can get a Now TV stick you can plug into a HDMI port and do much the same, though with those you can buy 'passes' for packages you can get through Sky, like Films, Entertainment, sport. You can get these on offer for a set time, but do revert to being more expensive so takes a bit more management to get the offers.

Now tv isn't free. They have offers on a lot of the time though. I'm paying £5 a month for their entertainment pack which includes Sky one, Atlantic and loads of others.

Can they sign up to their library and 'borrow' (digitally) from there?

You can use the stick to access things like iPlayer and More4 to watch catchup for free if your TV doesn't have that integrated though. Can pay extra to get Netflix and Sky stuff too though.

Netflix would be cheapest but you'd need something like a games console or fire stick if their tv isn't a smart one.

Alternatively you could go for a Now TV stick and subscription. I believe you can end Now TV with 1 month notice

You mention Sky being £50. Is that because they need Sports channels? Basic Sky is just over £20 (but you need to commit to 18 months)
