Camping with dd. What do I need?

Dd (6) has been asking us for ages to take her wild camping. Lockdown restrictions allow it and weather has to be nice at weekend. Apart from a tent, what do we need? Is there anything you wish you had took with you that I can add to my list? Thanks

Marshmallows

Some led battery lighters or torches
Maybe a card or board game
A table and everything Maz and pps have said.

Think through your daily needs - loo / food / staying warm and list from there. Have fun!

The thing with wild camping is trekking all your stuff there and back. It's really a time to take as little as possible with you and just enjoy the outdoors rather than trying to bring your creature comforts.

If DH knows what he's doing I'd leave the packing to him.

I can’t imagine camping on a camp site. I live in the middle of nowhere so I think other people would annoy me. Wild camping, food, water, sims, sleeping bag, spare blankets and pillows. Torches for nighttime, shovel to dig a toilet hole a decent amount of wine.

It doesn’t need to be overly complicated. Cars not going to be far away.

@Youaremysunshine09

Thread is not a joke.

I am in scotland and will be camping within the rules of the law.

Dd father will be joining us, I would never put my daughter at risk, her dad is an experienced camper, I'm not so was simply asking for some advice on any items people wish they had taken etc while going camping.

To everyone else with their crap opinions, why comment on the post if you have nothing nice to say?Hmm

God forbid I'm trying to do some fun things with my dd! Not as if I'm taking her to camp in the middle of a war zone!

Your OP made it sound as if you were setting off wild camping alone with a child having never camped before and having no clue as to what to take. Even your second post wasn’t clear that you are with her father and he would be on the trip.

You have had some good advice.

Everything lightweight.
Tent (3 man shared between 2 is doable)
Dehydrated food
Water purifying tablets
Dry clothes for in the tent. "Wet" clothes for outside. Clean underwear & socks for each day.
Bivvy bag to store rucksacks in overnight outside the tent.
Trowel to bury human waste. Everything else is carried out.

I'm.waiting until my DCs are both in Scouts and can caryy a fair proportion of their gear as with two DCs, it's too much weight for us to shift to carry to somewhere appropeiately remote. They also need a bit more stamina for longer walks/ weight.

I'd intriduce basic campsites first
