Hot tub for pain relief?

Serious question, as I'm struggling with joint and back pain.
There is no chance it will be used as a 'sex pond' so no worries there, and likely that I'm the only one that will use it....
Now that's out of the way, any advice?
If you did get one and it helps, which one did you go for?
I'm a bit shocked at the prices as I last looked years ago.
TIA.

My friend pays £160 a month in extra electricity to keep hers on and it's very small. I didn't realise you had already got one, I thought you were asking if they help and were worth it before buying.

Saying that, my friend runs hers when it's colder weather too, which hugely increases the cost of heating it.

@delilahbucket, I looked into the costs carefully. I don't know currently whether I'll keep it up all year round, but the pain relief is amazing.
You can see that I'm having trouble with my left knee (I'm losing cartilage due to arthritis and this knee is really painful at the moment).
For me (and I know it will be different for others), I'm prepared to pay the extra for the luxury of being able to wake up pretty much pain free and able to move easily in the morning, and also sleeping much better.
(For the record, the help offered by the NHS is pretty useless - I've lost all of the cartilage between my upper kneecap and femur on the other side, but had to choose between getting a steroid injection or an MRI. I chose the MRI as I wanted to know what was causing the pain and swelling.)
It was also not that expensive to buy (£310). As I haven't had a holiday for the last two years, even with the extras I've bought it doesn't come close to even one holiday.

Hot tub for pain relief?

I don't have one but I do hydrotherapy as part of my physio for post-traumatic osteoarthritis and another couple of injuries that never mended. There is absolutely nothing like treatment with a water jet! A general jacuzzi is more just soothing, but a strong jet really gets into the painful spot! So I guess it depends what your hot tub can do. I would definitely have one and go in every day if I had room/money. My osteopath is great too though and makes a massive difference to my back when something clicks out and nothing else helps. I use heat on my back (disc problems/arthritis/sacroiliac joint problem) and ice on my ankle (post traumatic osteoarthritis) and hip (insertional tendinitis).

After your last post I just want to say sorry you're getting so little help - I live abroad with private health insurance and while it's still limited to keeping things stable, I'm getting a decent amount of help Blush

@MountainDweller, absolutely no need to apologise!
It's just the way things are here now.
I also have problems with my SI joint in the left side (and I know now it causes a lot of my pain), but luckily I can do strengthening exercises and also deep massage when I am in my hot tub. I know I am very lucky to be able to do it. Smile

I'm just bumping this up there....
I'm still going in at least twice a day. I'm seriously considering how I can (relatively economically) run it over the winter months.
It's made so much difference to me. No matter how much pain I'm in when I get in, it instantly relieves it - and it lasts after I get out.
If you can afford to get one (and I appreciate there are folk who can't) - do. Smile

We have one and it helps. Ours was second hand, an "if you collect it you can have it". We cleaned it properly and had it fully serviced. We're fussy, so have never let family or friends in and it's sited somewhere private. Running costs and maintenance costs are high. The jets are starting to break so we'll have to spend a few hundred replacing those.
