2 weeks holiday, or 5 long weekends?

If either was fine with your employer, and your holiday plans were days at home + days out locally...

Given the choice, would you take a fortnight's holiday, two week-long holidays, or 5 long weekends?

I feel like long weekends/short work weeks would be a treat compared to working full time. However I wonder if a single long break would be more recuperative.

Two week long holidays. Which is what I am doing.

5 long weekends if you aren't going away for a week or two.

5 long weekends. Week breaks mean housework still needs doing on your time off. Long weekends mean you can put it off till a work day, feels more restful then!

1 weeks holiday and 2 long weekends(or however many your leave would permit.

1 week, and 2 or 3 long weekends.

I need two week long breaks to have a proper break from work.

Longer weekends are better for the weather. You could have two weeks off and pour down if you have more flexibility you can go with good weather forecast and get away and do something. That’s if you men’s in the UK

I love taking long weekends. I tend to prefer having long weekends to look forward to every few weeks, rather than one fortnight off and then no holidays for a few months. I need regular breaks!

My industry’s regulator sets a minimum of 2 consecutive weeks off once a year. My employer has a fairly good holiday allowance, we have a minimum of 25 days (depending on years of service) plus bank holidays so in theory you can take your 2 weeks and the several long weekends. It just becomes a problem if everyone wants to do this as we have small teams.

I prefer a week holiday at least. A day here and there or a long weekend are nice as a one off but not good to really shut down and relax. A weekend away is time consuming, you spend a lot of time on transport and then normally tries to cramp too much into it.

I think a lot depends on the type of work you do. If I take a couple of days off then my work will just build up and wait for when I get back. If I take two weeks off then someone else has to pick up most of it! I also think it's better for my mental health to take at least a week, as it can take almost that long to relax properly.
