Sore and watery eyes from wind

Over the past yesr I started experiencing something new. Basically any time I am walking outside and if there's any wind, even a slight wind or breeze, my eyes get sore and watery.

Does anyone else experience this?

I bought some big sunglasses thinking that will help and it does help a little bit but not a lot. Is there anything else I should look at? Maybe eye drops or different glasses?

That's so funny. It took me a few minutes to figure out your joke.

For years even a bit of a breeze would set my eyes off watering. They often felt sore too. I mentioned it when I got my eyes tested and the optician said watery eyes is a sign of dry eyes which sounds a bit crazy but she said to ask my gp to prescribe some drops. Ive used something called carbomer gel for about 5 years and they’re 80% better. It has to be properly really windy for my eyes to run at all. I’ve found as I’ve got older my eyes feel burning and look red if I’ve been looking at a screen a lot and when I wake up too and the drops really help instantly with that.

You can get dry eye drops from the chemist if your GP won’t prescribe them. The carbomer ones are the best I’ve tried.

It's dry eyes. You need a heat pad on your eyes for 10 mins once a day, put drops in and massage them as if you are rubbing your eyes.

With dry eyes the fat glands in the eye get blocked and secret less lipid when you blink. So your eye doesn't have the film of fat it needs to stay hydrated.

The drops replace the lipid in the tears but heat and massage can unblock them.

Thank you so much for all of the replies.

I ordered eye drops from an online pharmacy and they were delivered this morning. I used some drops this morning before work. I don't know if I followed the procedure entirely correctly because they was someone literally on my back demanding for my attention. Today is definitely a better day regarding the wind in eyes.

I had a bad time for well over a year with sore eyes and wind and it was though going. My sore eyes always translated into a banging headache too.
I think the drops are helping. I will use a heat pad at night time going forward.
Thank you so much for all of the replies.

Really hope the drops help. I seem to remember it took a few weeks of using them for the streaming every time I was out in a breeze to calm down.
