Lack of energy when the sun is out?

I know a lot of people say the sun and warmer weather gives them energy, but I seem to feel the opposite and feel like I have most energy and motivation when it’s grey and raining.

Don’t want to do anything when it’s warm like this (and it’s only mid twenties today, I know it will much hotter in July/August).

Friends have asked to meet up and enjoy the sunshine but I can’t think of anything worse than spending my afternoon outside in the sun. If it was tipping it down now that would be a different story!

Am I the only one? Confused

@Afonavon

I hate the heat. The sweaty skin, the migraines, the potential skin cancer, the clammy skin covered in sun block. There are no benefits to it! My fat body battling with cool floaty clothes which make me look even bigger, or flattering black clothes which make me sweatier. I fucking.hate.the. heat!
I've Found my people ! I am the same.

I think I have reverse S.A.D.

I feel really depressed I’m hot, sunny weather. I also feel like I should be out there 'doing something'. Don’t mind a grey, rainy day or winter. I’m counting down the days until the nights start to get darker.

@HeronLanyon

I am exactly the same op. I think it’s a kind of reverse SAD. Unless I am on a beach and able to swim then I really don’t like days like these. I have masses to do today - if it were grey and raining I’d have no problem ! Far far prefer autumn/winter (unless I am somewhere hot, on holiday and able to dive into to some lovely Sandy Rocky cove somewhere.

Sunny weather lifts my mood but saps me of physical energy

TeamNegan · 01/06/2021 18:45

Yep same! I’ve always said it’s SAD as SAD isn’t winter specific, just seasonal. I’m really upset that we don’t seem to have spring this year actually, it’s just gone from cold to boiling with no in between. I’m a max 18° kind of girl!

HarrisMcCoo · 01/06/2021 18:49

Yep. That's me too. Can't tolerate the heat - anything over 16C is not bearable.

Tumbleweed101 · 01/06/2021 18:52

I like it how it has been last couple days but not any hotter when having to work. OK when on holiday.

My preference is sunny but can function with a teeshirt or light jacket without being hot or cold.

BearSoFair · 01/06/2021 18:55

I'm the same. Can't remember ever enjoying hot sunny days! They make me tired, headachey, and somehow seem to make my IBS worse as well.

the80sweregreat · 01/06/2021 19:01

Only very thin or olive skinned women like the heat ( just going by my own friends and family over the years)
Two of the men in my house are also sun worshippers. Youngest isn't keen.
I sit indoors in the dark muttering about the heat and how it can 'do one. '
Trying to sleep in it is hell on earth too.
I hope we get a cool summer this year .

suckingonchillidogs · 01/06/2021 19:15

We don't seem to get a build up to hot weather in the UK anymore - last month it was cold and wet and suddenly boom it's full on summer. I could cope if it was more gradual. Feel like I SHOULD go out and enjoy the sun this evening but really cannot be arsed.

Shitfuckcommaetc · 01/06/2021 19:26

I feel really depressed I’m hot, sunny weather. I also feel like I should be out there doing something

So much this, I feel guilty I haven't taken the kids out (pre teens, don't want to go out anyway) and I need to get off FB, which just shows everyone I know out enjoying themselves!

We played in the garden all afternoon in the shade with the water. There was a nice breeze but I actively avoided all sun for myself and dd.

I hurry outside to hang out washing then hurry back inside 😩

Worriesome · 02/06/2021 11:56

I have zero energy in the sun, it slows me down and makes me drowsy. Best thing to do in the sun is a sitting activity like a picnic or beach. Keep the active stuff for a more breezy day x
