How many fizzy drinks, if any, do you allow your kids?

And by kids, I mean older ones.

My youngest is 14.5 and he'd drink Diet Coke all the day long if I let him. I don't of course and he has a couple of cans at the weekend, probably a bit more what with half term next week. The only other drink he has is water and his diet overall is excellent and varied

I'm obviously soooo mean in only allowing a few cans on the weekend - but I think this is more than enough.

How about you? Do you restrict it or ban it completely or are you relaxed about it?

Dh and I drink fizzy juice with dinner (diet coke/fanta/irn bru, etc). Ds and dd tend to have squash or water during the week and then they have the same as us at the weekend although dd (17) has never really like fizzy drinks so she might have fresh orange and lemonade although she does like a fruity cider too!

My older ones haven't been restricted since they had their own money.
They both went through phases of drinking a lot of a particular drink, Coke for DD and Dr Pepper for DS1 at about 14/15. Both grew out of it and mostly drink water, juice tea or coffee now.
Younger two have them at parties, meals out. I keep the mini cans as mixers at and they ask for one occasionally.

I buy one bottle of fizzy drink on a Friday that they can drink over the weekend but nothing during the week, just water.
If they buy them when out and about that’s fine, I’m not really strict on it or anything it’s just not something I’d be buying for daily consumption.
All three of them like water, we’re on holiday at the moment and they all asked for water at the pub the other day, I’m sure the waiter thought we were cheapskates! We did ask for bottled though Grin

Pre teens here. None at all til they were 8 then at other people's parties only. From about 10 they got them as a treat if we were in a cafe for example or for movie night at home. Probably about twice a month now but definitely in the 'treat' camp.
