First sunny day and that’s it - neighbours are outside, usual continuous DIY, dog barking, constant barbecuing, and now they’ve upped the ante with music. This’ll be it now for the summer and I honestly think it’s going to tip me over the edge this year Sad. My MH is currently at rock bottom and I have an injury which means I can’t move around much so I’m pretty much stuck at home. All I want is to be able to sit out in peace - if everyone had music blaring it’d be horrendous so most considerate people don’t or at least have it on quietly. We’ve lived here nearly 5 years and I feel awful as I pushed and pushed to move to a detached house - house is lovely but as with many newish builds, it’s on a small plot so gardens are really on top of each other. They’re a large family - 4 kids youngest is 18 but none showing any sign of moving out.
I know I’ll probably get responses telling me to relax and not be so uptight, but if you’re hyper sensitive to noise it really increases anxiety levels. Really wish we could all escape but moving is impractical and too expensive right now. It’s a gut wrenchingly awful feeling realising you’ve bought the wrong house, next to the wrong people and can’t do anything about it 😢

Thought it was just me - kids screaming, motorbikes revving, loud phone conversations, banging and drilling and all I want is to listen to the birds 😂

We had this last summer when I was pregnant and furloughed. My neighbour was furloughed too. Every bloody afternoon - the music would start. It actually physically affected me, I was so ragey and it just ruined my mood. Luckily our new neighbours are quiet but then they constantly smoke weed inside which leaks into our house, so 🙄 next move will be into the countryside where I can just be annoyed at ducks and sheep.

It's bloody crap here too. Headphones and using my garden v early or v late is what I tend to do now. Have made a nice area with fairy lights and often sit out there late and pre 8am when all the builders arrive. Next door just started an extension and is the 10th building project in houses surrounding me since start of lockdown. I Try to not let THE RAGE take me over. But it's hard. Unless you want the hassle and costs of a move I think finding a way for it not to eat you up and get cross about all the time is the only way. Reckon if I moved I'd likely still feel bitter and cross that I had to so now just try and see the good bits and grow as many tall plants around the edge to cocoon my space as much as I can. People are selfish though. Yes I mean you bloody annoying drilling guy 2 doors down today Angry

My CF loud annoying voiced neighbour who does DIY at all hours and hosts endless garden gatherings (and has yappy dogs) just asked if we'd hold a key for the carpenter who is coming WHILE THEY ARE AWAY all week. No apology for any inconvenience (they're always having stuff done and never mention it. The tiling project was particularly unbearable, so noisy and our car covered in dust).

I get they want a nice house and that we make noise too.. but they moved in and started up just after the last lot moved out - they were keen DIYers too - I think the new lot are merrily dismantling what the others put in and changing it all around again so we've had no break from it for the last few years.

I always think there would be a market for houses or blocks of flats where the owners are noise sensitive. So you could sit in the garden in silence and have neighbours who do the same. Or be in your home and go to bed at night knowing your neighbours would be silent too.
