Dcat keeps peeing in DS buggy

A few months ago our cat developed the nasty habbit op peeing in DS’s buggy (in the basket underneath). We cleaned it and fortunately she stopped doing it.

She has recently developed the habit of doing a poo by the front door sometimes (every 2 weeks or so) particularly on evenings when DH is home late. Yesterday I caught her peeing in DS buggy but this time on the seat. Interestingly enough, buggy is also always near the front door. We thoroughly cleaned it, used special cat repellent spray on it but she just did it again.
We will now fold the buggy each time after use and cover it with a plastic bag to stop this but I’m starting to worry what might become her next target. She is a healthy cat, we keep up with cleaning her litter box daily.

Any advice ?

More trays. Are you using woodchip litter? Mine would wee outside the tray if it was woodchip.

He liked ultraclumping litter, preferably talcum powder scented.

She still pees in her tray and months have gone by with no issue. DH suspects she’s stressed because of the change of the season and because we’re going trough a difficult phase with our toddler so there’s less attention to give her. Last time she peed in the buggy was mostly on occasion that the family member that minds DS on sometimes would be there & she is banned from coming into the living room and kitchen because said family member is absolutely terrified of cats.

She does sound stressed. Get Feliway plug ins, provide more litter trays, make sure she has private, high up places where she can escape. Don’t punish her for the behaviour ever.

No we haven’t punished her when she did this. Today we tidied up the study room (which is ‘her’ room) so she has a bit more space, gave her lots of extra attention and I bought her a new toy (a wind up rat that looks very real Grin) and a new sleeping mat made of fabric that keeps her cool in summer weather. She just did a poo in her litter tray so hopefully it indeed was stress and we have made her feel a bit more relaxed now.

Is DS a new arrival? Before I had my first daughter, my cat was my ‘baby’ and I had had him for a long time since before I was married. He took to spraying on the cot, and indeed anything in my daughter’s room. He even tried to sit on my shoulder as I was breast feeding. I presume it was jealousy.

DS is nearly 2 years old and there were no issues with Dcat around the time he was born. I have lots of cute pictures of her sitting next to the cot and just watching him.

The only difference now is DH is working overtime a lot and dcat is upset by this.
She watches from the window to see him walk into our street at the time he’s usually coming back from work and then goes downstairs to sit on the table by the front door to greet him when he comes in.
If he’s late, she gets very upset and is crying and meowing by the front door. Often this is followed by poo by the front door a bit later or the next morning.

Does she get to go outdoors?

LaBellina · 30/05/2021 12:12

No we don’t let her go out because we live near a very busy road and we’re afraid she wouldn’t survive even a day as an outdoor cat.

Not an expert but imo your dcat is protesting. About your toddler and the dcat hating guest...
Poor dcat has no real escape from toddler noise... When ds was small our dcats were absent until his bedtime!!

She often stays upstairs when DS is awake and downstairs, sometimes she comes to the living room to say hello but DS often tries to grab and pull her tail so she prefers some distance. Usually when DS is taking his nap she comes downstairs to sit with me in the kitchen (often on my lap) but DS has refused to nap the past days so there hasn’t been much quality time for me and her unfortunately Sad
