10-15 min drive to primary school, will it be ok?

We are moving to a new area and there are no spaces at the closest school for DD who is in reception. However, we've been offered a space at another really great school a 10-15 minute drive away (depending on traffic). It's got a great reputation and is usually oversubscribed so we are lucky that a space has come up.

We went to look round and thought it would really suit DD but I'm panicking a little about the drive. Has anyone done this kind of journey and can reassure me it is ok?

DH will probably do drop off and pick up one day a week and I'll do the other four so at least we are sort of sharing the pain...!

I honestly don't get what you're panicking about? If you have time to do the commute twice a day then it's fine. It's a good school and you currently have no alternative.

10-15 minutes? You obviously don’t live in Cornwall where we have to travel a minimum of 30 minutes to get to anything.

You’ll be fine!

We went from a few minute walk in a village to a 10-15 mins cross town journey. Honestly I hate it, it's been such an adjustment going from walking to a start stop town drive. I also miss feeling part of a community, it feels really different all the kids' neighbours going to different schools but I think that's the adjustment from village to town. We have them on a waiting list to try to move them closer, but not very hopeful as they're severely over subscribed. I'm sure you'll adjust, as we will, but it is an adjustment and I miss walking to school very much, does my head in to see near by neighbours driving their kids to the school at the end of the road.

You could always driver closer and park but walk the last bit ...either with them or they could walk with others
Mine went to a school a 15 min drive away ...I wasn't working so it was fine ..I just sucked it up
4 times a day ...issues occasionally when one child had an after school club....meant other had to sit in car with me or we would go to local park in the summer.
