It’s my birthday in 3 weeks. Money is tight. In London, what shall I do?

Have had a shit year (like many) and my last birthday was good, but things hadn’t properly opened up so went for a walk in the countryside with family.

This year I want to do something fun in London, but I don’t have a lot of money to spend.

I live in London and my birthday is on a Thursday and I have the day off. I’m meeting a friend or two in the evening somewhere, but am yet to tell them where.

What shall I with myself in the day?

And where should I go in the evening that has a good atmosphere, yummy food, but isn’t mad expensive?!?

I'd go to the southbank for the atmosphere and into a few galleries along the way.

I would go for a walk along the south bank then turn off at Blackfriars and go for dinner / drinks at Mercato Metropolitano food market at Elephant and Castle

Hope you have a great day whatever you decide!

Depends what you like! I love the old bit around St Paul's or I would go to the tower of London and be a geek.

You could go somewhere like Hampstead and go village style pub.

When I was a student I loved the walk from London Bridge to Waterloo. Always had a coffee or wine in the national theatre and love seeing the globe.

I’d buy a good book at a bookstore then walk to a cafe I liked for a coffee, cake and several hours reading my new book.

National Gallery, you have to select a time to go and book, but it is free. Same with either Tate Britain or Tate Modern.

Near the National Gallery you can visit St Martin in the Fields (cafe may be open), and by Leicester Square see the Cocteau murals in the French church.

Ceremony of the Keys at the Tower? It's free, but you have to book.
