Worth it? Recommendations?
I don't have space for separate ones sadly.

I have had 2 in rented flats and they never dry things properly. Would never bother buying one.

Worst decision I ever made. It washes fine but no matter what I try I've never known it to actually function as a dryer. Even after 3 hours of pretending to dry, the clothes are still wet. The only difference being that they've acquired a weird chemical smell.
I hate it with a passion

Beamur · 28/05/2021 18:42

I have one. My previous one was rubbish. New one is a Haier and is a much better drier. Takes a long time though.

Flowerclock · 28/05/2021 18:45

If you dry absolutely everything, you probably need separate. I have one due to lack of space and it's ok for what we use it for. We tend to only tumble dry towels and bedding.

The dryer and washing settings have different weight limits. So I can wash a 8kg load but only dry 5kg. This is why people have problems with them not drying the full load, because they're trying to dry a full wash load.

Don't do it, unless you like damp clothes.

I have a Candy one, I can't have both and I thought it might be nice to dry things occasionally. I can't put as much in my dryer as I can the wash, so I'll sort through it and hang some stuff up, but it's far better than I expected. It will take a set of towels or jeans and undies etc.
I don't like the washing part of it though as it's so blinking noisy!

We've had one for several years. It dries clothes.
I particularly like the wash dry cycle for overnight 'emergency' washes (e.g. when DD needed PE kit two days in a row, or midweek uniform washes in bad weather).

I don't use it as a full time drier, only when raining etc.

This.

We have a John Lewis (ie made y AEG) and it's a good wager and an adequate tumble drier. Our precious machine was a Miele, and it worked well for 13y. We didn't feel we needed to spend Miele-amounts of £££ for the next one because technology had moved on and there were many more reliable makes.

I have a Samsung one, I love it.

It does take a long time compared to a separate dryer (2-3 hours for a load) but it’s better than taking 2 days to dry and making your house damp.

Happenchance · 28/05/2021 18:59

I've had one previously and probably wouldn't again. It was too easy to accidently tumble dry something that shouldn't be tumble dried. It also left my clothes more crumpled than any other washing machine and/or drier I've ever used, though that could just be a coincidence.

Racingadmin · 28/05/2021 19:03

I've used these in holiday flats . They never dry the clothes very well and the drying cycle seems to take twice as long as my tumble dryer at home

MilduraS · 28/05/2021 19:05

I have one, a zanussi. The washer dryer only dries a half load and takes ages. We also learned that no amount of ironing will fix a shirt that's been dried in the washer dryer. After spending 10 minutes putting all his weight behind ironing a single shirt, DH went to work where it slowly crumpled up throughout the day. It looked like he'd picked it up from the bottom of the laundry basket by the time he got home.

Lubiluxe · 28/05/2021 19:43

Thanks all. That's such a shame and not what I was expecting 😪 I wish there was a better solution!

I think they're ok if you don't use a dryer for everything. I use mine for towels and either do a wash & dry, the capacity isn't bad, or I do a bigger wash and remove the clothes and line dry those and tumble the towels. A couple of bath sheets and maybe 4 hand towels takes about 2 hours
