How can I thank the staff at Wagamamas? - Ideas please

Last week I fell and broke my ankle in several places outside of Wagamamas in Birmingham.

The staff were amazing, they called ambulance, carried me inside so I wasn't soaked , it was raining heavily, offered to feed my teenager who was with me and carried me into a black cab when the ambulance failed to arrive after 90 mins.

I ended up in hospital for 5 nights as i needed surgery, now I am home I want to do something to thank them. A card doesn't seem adequate, does any one please have any ideas?

Maybe send an email to their manager and overall area manager expressing your gratitude, or a call to your local paper who could run a story on it?
They may then get further recognition from head office.

How lovely! Hope your ankle is healing ok. Some ideas:

Card and doughnuts/cupcakes

Email wagamama head office and tell them (cc in the branch if there is a branch email address)

Write reviews on google/trip advisor saying what they did

That’s wonderful of them. Firstly, if you haven’t already I would write to their head office.

It’s a difficult one at the moment due to COVID, as I would’ve suggested some nice food/snacks but it’s whether they’re allowed at the moment.

Definitely contact head office though, and send a card.

Cash? Letter to head office naming people? Happy face piece in the local paper?

Hope you’re on the mend, sounds brutal!

I think definitely a note to Wagamama’s head office would be lovely, mention the team, it’ll be really helpful when they have performance reviews etc.

Other than that just something for the staff to enjoy - nice big boxes of chocs - it’s the appreciation which will mean so much

The local paper would probably love a story like that, particularly if you were happy to turn up on crutches and be photographed giving the staff a thank-you card or bunch of flowers.

Having worked in restaurants, nothing says thank you like chocolate or cake Smile

If nothing else, make sure you do email/write a letter including day and time. Quite a lot of staff are under pressure to get good feedback from the public.

Hope you make a quick recovery OP.

I agree with contacting head office etc as they may well be able to put something in place through their own systems. You can get gift 'bouquets' of individual chocolate bars, sweets and even the hotel packs of biscuits, so something like that that can go in their staff rest room and not be worried about hygiene/sharing too much would be a nice touch too. I'll certainly bear it in mind next time I venture into Brum and am hungry so genuine good PR is always a great thing even for bigger businesses.

lifeturnsonadime · 28/05/2021 15:26

All of these ideas are great.

I will definitely contact their head office and think of some individually wrapped treats (any ideas?) to send in to try to avoid the covid risk.

I don't like drawing attention to myself so I'm not sure about the local paper, although a letter might do the trick.

Thanks for the well wishes. I will be fine , it's a bit of a pain to be off feet and stuck on the sofa again for the foreseeable though!

How about a big stash of old fashioned style sweets that come in cellphone wrappers? Like the lemon sherbets and stuff?

CaMePlaitPas · 28/05/2021 15:46

Money/gift vouchers

Franklyfrost · 28/05/2021 16:02

I hate sweet stuff so I’ve thanked hospital staff with lip/hand balms from burts bees/ cinema vouchers to the local cinema/ unisex bamboo socks. These do cost more than donuts but not assuming there’s only a few people it might be in your means. Also, any personal or specific comments are meaningful: thanks for that glass of water, for arranging the pillows, for a calming hand on my shoulder etc.
