How is my antique cupboard supposed to hang on the wall?

I bought an oak antique wall cupboard. It's very large, a metre wide & 1.5m high. It's got a heavily carved front with a garland of flowers hanging down from carved bows - so it has a definite 'right way up'. The bottom edge is carved in a semicircle, so it can't balance & lean against the wall. There are absolutely no fixings on the back. No holes, no metal plates, nothing. Just a flush plain back. How was it ever hung on the wall?

Also, I've noticed, tipping the picture upside down puts the key on the left-hand side. I don't think that would be right. I think I'm going to have to inset metal hangers on the back. I just wish I knew how it was originally done.

I finally have it, the flowers do hang down, if the cupboard is up the other way the shelves fall out due to the cut at the sides. I agree though, it's a weird looking piece.

Do you think maybe the doors are on the wrong way? So have it the right way up (second pic) then take off the doors and flip round?

At the top of the fruits on the sides Bruce

It's bloody weird, I can't work it out. Having had another look at it it almost looks like it could be a sideboard type thing but then who puts a mini cage-like gallery around the bottom edge?

On picture 9 the one with key on shelf there is a fixing hole near side above shelf not the central hole. I also think the carved semi circle is at top

I think it's the type of cupboard where the tea sugar and spices might have been locked away valuable commodities in nice cupboard

We moved into an old house that an old lady had lived in. It still had the laundry drying rack that pulled up to the ceiling on strings.
There was a dark wood corner cupboard. It was somehow attached into the wall on wooden batons.it was almost attached into the wall, and we had to plaster where it had come away.

And the cupboard we had still gets VERY damp. The person who owns it now keeps one of those dehumidifier boxes in it.

@BlueBrolly

If you look at the top of the fruit they hang from bows & the garlands hang down. There are no battens on the back secure enough to hold it's weight - only for construction

I think those 'fruits' are bunches of tulips with a ribbon tied around them...

I also think it's upside down!

I would turn it the other way up, fix battens on the wall and rest it on a bottom batten as well as screwing it securely to all battens.

Looking at the carved bows, I don’t think it’s upside down, it’s the right way up.

I think the gallery at the top is to stop ornaments/decorative items falling off and then the open shelf at the bottom is a handy spot to keep your iPhone 😄 (or the antique equivalent.)

No idea about hanging it though.
