On a mission to get myself organised and I'm searching for the perfect planner. I need to use it for work and personal stuff, and to maximise my productivity. I need plenty of space to write, but it needs to be light enough to carry around and not too bulky. I tend to use an electronic calculator, so not too worried about space to record appointments - it's more about identifying priorities, tracking progress, ensuring balance etc. Please let me have your suggestions!

A blank bullet journal with just dots or lines...then you make up your own framework. Totally flexible and you can get as complicated or stay as simple as you like. Look at pinterest for BuJo inspiration

I love my leuchtturm 1917. A5 and weighs about 500g.
It’s dotted so I use it as a bullet journal. It definitely makes me more productive and it stops me forgetting things. As you can see I enjoy drawing in my new grids for the week and sticking on stickers like a child!

I bought a Legend Planner from Amazon as I have previously bought diaries/journals and not really used them, but as this was pre printed with BuJo type pages I thought I'd give it a try. I now can't wait till it ends so I can get a proper blank BuJo as I know now what I'd use and what I wouldn't.

I've read that good things Leichtturm that a pp has. This website has some good suggestions too diaryofajournalplanner.com I think there is a page on the different journals recommended

paralysedbyinertia · 26/05/2021 15:30

Interesting. Lots of bujo fans here. I think I might be too lazy for that...hmm.

The legend planner looks nice though!

The pretty pictures are not a compulsory part of bullet journalling. You could always keep it purely functional.

I have one of these which I have enjoyed using this year (also too lazy for a bullet journal here)

I agree with bullet journaling. Watch the original video and it’s very easy, any of the prettiness can come later if you want to. A lot of people use them as an artistic thing but as an organisational method they’re amazing and have totally revolutionised how I do many things.

I use a scribble and dot as I like thicker pages but had a leuchtturm 1917 for years.

whitershadeofpale · 26/05/2021 16:18

This is the basics

paralysedbyinertia · 26/05/2021 16:44

Thanks, I'll watch the video.

Love a bullet journal but I found the Circle planner a couple of years ago and now treat myself to one every year, it’s been great for organising my personal and work life ( I have a stressful job, moved house, pregnant and have just gained a distinction for my MBA). They have just released the half year planner. Plus it’s an independent business run by a fantastic lady!

paralysedbyinertia · 27/05/2021 00:30

Thanks @vikmc87, I'll take a look. I like to support small businesses where I can.

And congratulations on your MBA! I did one a few years ago, and I know it's hard work!Smile

The ‘About time’ planner has quite a tight look on the layout... is ‘the circle ‘ planner any better for someone with quite big writing?
£10 vs £35.
no pictures of the inside pages of ‘the circle’ planner on the website.

Sonofabiscuit · 27/05/2021 01:00

Try Esty. Loads of different types on there .daily /weekly/monthly etc.

TimeIhadaNameChange · 27/05/2021 09:21

I've just bought a filofax and plan to semi-bujo it. When my note pages arrive I'm going to create a numbered to-do list which I'll move from week to week, and add the numbers to each day rather than writing everythi g out. I'm also getting a dates section so birthdays etc will be on there and in the diary, but then that can move year-to-year so I won't have to go through the diary at NY to find them all.

Will also have a book list and film list, finances, addresses and anything else I feel like.

A best friend of mine swears by Panda Planner. I use the Best Self Journal and have used the Passion Planner in the past.

vikmc87 · 28/05/2021 16:21

@paralysedbyinertia thank you Blush

At £35 for the small version it is quite expensive (which is why I buy it as a Christmas treat to myself every year) but they do presages with 20% off. There’s one on now. The discount code is PRESALE and they also have the perfectly imperfect ones which might have a little mark on.

I think the fact that it is a bit more expensive makes me use it, make sure I’m getting my money’s worth Grin.

I think someone mentioned about seeing the pages so I have taken a few pics of what it looks like inside

Take a look at Papier, they do various styles of notebooks and diaries which might suit (mid year diaries, journals, academic year diaries etc)
