Cannot seems to find the answers I need! Is there a good place to start? Just need to work there for 2 years.

It’s very very difficult unless there is a role already waiting for you and an employer willing to sponsor you. What is your situation?

Do you have a job offer there? Or particular specialist skills?

Letsallscreamatthesistene · 25/05/2021 16:04

My friend had a role waiting for him AND he's a US/UK dual national and it was still a complete pain for him.

Do you have a job waiting for you? Is it something you need to organise yourself? Or is it part of a move within a company (because you'd get HR support for that)?

It's my daughter who needs to work there for 2 years. She's a qualified Primary school teacher with a Degree, but she will only have one year of teaching full time under her belt. She did do multiple placements as part of her Degree though. Most things we've found say that 2 years experience is required and we weren't sure if her placements at Uni would count for anything?

Her Partner is going over to Wisconsin to do a soccer scholarship, hence her wanting to go to.

Ideally she needs a job that will sponsor her.

PotteringAlong · 25/05/2021 16:21

I think she will find it almost impossible. I’m assuming she doesn’t want to marry him first?

Looks like she could get a teacher visa though.

motogogo · 25/05/2021 16:23

Unless they are married I doubt she'll even get a 2 year visa. I had a quickie wedding for just this reason (friends have done the same). I could work as a spouse on a J2 visa (academic exchange). She needs to check what visa he is getting

@PotteringAlong

The op says she's only 1 year post qualification, you need 3 for this programme

leftout1 · 25/05/2021 16:43

Thanks for replies. It's a mine field! I think she's going to need 2 years experience of teaching full time. But, she only has 1. Gah!

@motogogo that teaches me to mumsnet when I should be paying attention to my DS’s swimming lesson instead Grin
