I've been training a new hire at work for a week and by christ I am ready for a good old scream.

She is pleasant enough on the surface but I am having such a tough time biting my tongue.
When I begin to explain a particularly challenging patients past history (to help her) she's STRAIGHT in blathering on about someone she has treated who was WAY worse.

She thinks that spouting off about her personal life to patients is fine - it's not and I've told her repeatedly why but she thinks she knows better. We treat a lot of very mentally unwell people, and people who have historically stalked other staff members etc

When the team treated her to a nice lunch to celebrate her first week she spouted on about a cafe that she knew that was MUCH BETTER.

On and on and on all day.

What on earth do you do with these people?!

Tell her to wind her neck in and be professional, or she'll not be passing the probation.

Lack of confidentiality when it is needed is a serious enough matter I would argue to fail probation or be a disciplinary matter. Make it very clear it must stop and 100% follow up if that does not change. No exceptions whatsoever, however difficult that is.

Good luck.

She doesn’t sound a good fit for the job. Have you brought up these concerns to your manager. Perhaps they can speak to her about her behaviour.
