Insomnia after anxiety... is anything going to help? I'm so, so tired

I found Jan-Mar really, really hard and the anxiety either led or to came with insomnia.

I couldn't get an appointment with a GP, but Kalms helped during the day and exercising again helped too. I feel so, so much better in myself, but I still can't sleep.

I drift off around 1am, and wake up again at 4am. If it's a good day, I can doze until about 6.30.

I'm so so tired :( I just want to sleep. I've tried everything, no screen time after 8.30, bath, nice bedding, sleep spray.

Sometimes i just need a valium from the doctor. They dont mind giving me them as long as its not too often

I used to use zopiclone and diazepam. I was quite open about my usage with the gp. Less than one zopiclone a week and similar if not less with diazepam.
With the insomnia I knew I had the option of an full nights sleep so the nights I was awake were less stressful. I was sleepy the next day but nothing bad especially when compared to how awful I felt with insomnia.

Amitriptyline works for me too. I only got it because I was prescribed sertraline and was struggling to sleep on it.

Amitriptyline here too. It's an antidepressant used for pain management as well and you dont need a high dose to have an effect.

I’ve found the Rescue Remedy Night Liquid Melts helpful. I put one under my tongue if I wake up in the night, and it seems to switch off all those swirling thoughts that go round and round in your head in the middle of the night.

high dose of melatonin gives vivid dreams. Try a smaller dose. I sometimes find a smaller dose works better than a higher dose, as the high doses keep you in dream sleep all night so you dont even feel refreshed even if u sleep.

Magnesium & audio books honestly worked for me.
I set a 20 min timer on the audio book and always fall asleep by the end of the 20 min.
The magnesium helps me to stay asleep all night whereas I used to wake at around 3am.
I seem to get 'ovulation insomnia' so one week a month (or two, periods erratic due to age/peri) I take melatonin. You have to find the right dose for you so you get the sleep but not the horrid dreams.

A weighted blanket? I’ve been using one for several weeks and I’m now able to get back to sleep.
