Camping virgin needing help/advice

mayaknew · 24/05/2021 15:24

So against my better judgement dh and I have booked a camping pod to take ds(8) dd(5) and the dog. The pod is basically a wooden tent with heater a fridge and a microwave.

So any advice on what to take with us. Please help me survive the weekend

Extra fuel for the heater! They never provide enough. I am presuming it’s a glamping situation so they provide sheets and towels? My other suggestions would be: a hot water bottle, flip flops, loo roll, wet wipes, champagne/fizz and the all important flash light.

Battery fairy lights
Head torch and/or lantern
Insect repellant
Inflatable/camping chairs
Washing up liquid, brush or pan scourer and tea towel. Possibly a washing up bowl.

Pillows!

Torch, loo roll, flip-flops and an umbrella.

Take a couple of card/board games too. I always take Uno.

Brill advice thank you! No they don't provide sheets or anything. The dcs have sleeping bags so need to remember pillows as well. Dh and I will need to get something to sleep in.

Glow sticks
Bbq or disposable bbq if you’re allowed
Fire starting equipment if there’s a fire pit
Cuppa porridge
Coffee sachets
Hot chocolate and marshmallows

Don't "get something to sleep in", take your bedding from home and you will be much more comfortable. IMO sleeping bags are for camping not glamping where you do have the option of some comfort.

Wellies / Crocs - the grass will be wet in the morning and having wet feet all day is miserable.

Microfibre towels dry much quicker and take up less room.

Head torch / torch

Bin bags for wet / dirty laundry

Old clothes and a ball, skipping rope etc for the children

A twirly spike to tie the dog up to if it cannot 101% be relied on to stay where it's told. In fact you may have no choice anyway.

Wine Grin

Duvets, not sleeping bags and extra blankets
Glow sticks
Fairy lights with batteries
Hats and woollen socks
Real coffee percolator pot and gas to boil it on (a must for camping mornings!)
Board/card games
Torches and head torch
Slip on waterproof shoes/ wellies
Dog bed (otherwise they WILL sleep on you!)

Hohofortherobbers · 24/05/2021 19:56

Extra blankets, I freeze when I camp

Atalune · 24/05/2021 19:59

Ear plugs
Lantern and fairy lights
What are the cooking facilities?
Take your own bedding and a couple of extra blankets.

Ok so no sleeping bags just sheets and duvets. Perfect. Although ds will probably want to take his sleeping bag as well 🤣
