Do you think we will have a hot summer?

Just that really. Weather has been absolutely rubbish lately, it’s really depressing.

We are due to go Cornwall in July and usually it’s really warm, but normally we have some sort of hot weather by now.

So do you think summer will be a wash out?

Yes but not too hot I hope. My ideal is around 25 degrees with nights no higher than 17/18. I hate hot sticky nights. Fingers crossed for your holiday.

Mumdiva99 · 24/05/2021 08:21

No I don't think we'll have a hot summer. Usually the good weather would be around now......(always before the summer holidays are in full flow....)

FloodgatesofHell · 24/05/2021 08:22

I hope not, I love the summer and all this rain is depressing. My weather app isn’t giving me much hope yet Sad

SpnBaby1967 · 24/05/2021 08:27

The longterm forecast on the Metcheck website has higher temps in July, but not at the levels we saw last year. But it does at least look dry.

Heyha · 24/05/2021 08:27

I do, I think the weather is normalising itself a bit. The old wives' saying for May was always 'in like a lion, out like a lamb' and looking at the forecast for this week that seems to be about what we've had this time.

I think we will have a typical hot spell just before and during school hols. Maybe with the classic showery bit in the middle then another burst of good weather in early Sept when schools go back. That's the weather I remember being typical, not suncream over Easter like we've had the last few years 😂

I do keep a close eye on wether patterns with having sheep because of flies, shearing, hay making and this does feel, apart from how dry it was in April, to be a much more normal year. It just ticks out because the last few have been quite abnormal in my opinion.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 24/05/2021 08:32

It's looking like it will warm up from next Thursday. 19/20 degrees.

Tal45 · 24/05/2021 08:49

The rain seems to be easing off after today and the temperature starts going up - well down south according to the BBC that is. Today though it is saying hail showers this afternoon :-O

thismeansnothing · 24/05/2021 08:50

Oh I bloody hope not.
I work nights and trying to sleep during the day in the ridiculous heat just doesn't work

ToryStelling · 24/05/2021 09:19

My BBC weather app is showing 19-20 degrees from this Thursday into next week.

I hope the last few weeks aren’t a sign of things to come! Fingers crossed for a couple of months of nice weather now 🤞🏼

Followtheyellowsicktoad · 24/05/2021 09:35

@Heyha, ‘In like a lion, out like a lamb’ is for March! Cast nay clout til May be out is for May. Either way, a bit of sun on the grass would be nice.

Flaunch · 24/05/2021 09:36

The weather this year has been so weird I have no idea. May is normally my favourite month but this year has been truly horrible.

Topseyt · 24/05/2021 09:42

I certainly hope it warms up a fair bit from what it has been over the last few weeks, which have been dismal.

It does look as though some improvement in temperature is forecast, but the proof of the pudding etc...

Oh yeah 😂 no excuses on that one, how embarrassing 😂

I knew the May one as well 🤦 (I heard some say it means Hawthorn flowers (mayflowers) rather than the calendar Month but I wonder if I've muddled that up too).

Either way, yes please to a seasonal June 😂

Foxyloxy1plus1 · 24/05/2021 11:49

Yes, it’s the May blossom it refers to, not the month.
