Abnormal bleeding and worried (a bit tmi)

I'm just posting for advice/possible reassurance before I call my GP first thing tomorrow.
For four days now I've been having odd vaginal bleeding after going to the toilet for a number 2. It's bright red and also dark brown mucus in between. I'm on the implant and was diagnosed with cervical ectropion three years ago but thought they generally resolved themselves? Im over due a smear due to lockdown but am so worried it could be cervical cancer and really dreading going through tests etc due to sexual assault ptsd.
Just need a hand hold really, in a bit of a state tonight Sad.

Random bleeding happened to me all the time on the implant. It's one of the reasons I got it removed. Definitely check with your gp but try not to worry!

I've been on the implant for three years though and this is the first time it's happened.

Is it the same one as they apparently have a limited lifespan. I think it’s three years.

So if it’s the same one perhaps that’s why, it just needs replaced.

It's due out in November

I had 3 of them. First one I only bled every 18 months. Second one I was fine for two years and a half years and I had constant on/off bleeding for the last 6 months and my 3rd one I had random bleeding when ever my body felt like it. So it can happen at any time.

MandUs · 23/05/2021 20:45

Do get it checked but I want to reassure you that most likely it's nothing to worry about.

I have had the same a couple of times and saw a gynecologist who wasn't the slightest bit worried about it. They checked my cervix and I had a scan but nothing was found so has been written off as one of those things that can just happen sometimes.

Beebityboo · 23/05/2021 21:03

I guess I just want to write it off and not have it checked but I know I probably should.
Really dreading the idea of another colposcopy.

Beebityboo, I don't think you can just write it off. I don't know if you are an anxious person or not but if you are anything like me, even if it turns out to be something harmless (which it most likely will be), you'll be worrying yourself silly if you don't get it checked.

What is your relationship like with your GP or practice nurse? They really should be trauma aware and have you in control of any exams. In any case, nobody can examine you if you aren't ready for that and please don't feel pressured. Maybe go and have a chat with the doctor first and see what they think.

Beebityboo · 24/05/2021 07:48

I don't feel comfortable with my GP at all but moved to a small village two years ago so not a lot of options to change. The idea of the tests I may need is worrying me more than anything as I know I'm looking at weeks of worry and anxiety. I know I have to just be brave and get it sorted.

Just thought I'd update. Saw the nurse for an exam tomorrow. She's almost certain it's a large cervical ectropion so being referred to have it seen to at the hospital. Bit upset as there was lots of bleeding and wearing a mask during these things is awful (how women in labour do it I have no idea) but hopefully she's right and it's something that can be sorted quickly.

That’s good she thinks it’s not anything dangerous. Hopefully it can be sorted quickly.
