Cyst (?) down below?

Sorry, posting in chat as wasn’t sure where anyone would see this! Have used a euphemism in the title so I don’t put people off their breakfast!

Have woken up this morning with a painful hard lump inside my labia but near the top so definitely not a bartholins cyst (never had one of those fortunately). Just recently finished a very long and painful period and the skin around where the edges of the pad sit is really sore so may be related to that - due to friction maybe? It really hurts!

Weirdly last night in the shower I discovered a painful area under my arm - feels a bit like when a gland is up but I can’t feel an actual lump. Didn’t notice until I washed the area and now it’s quite sore. No idea if it’s related!

Any advice on managing this (probable) cyst at home?

Have taken painkillers and making a hot water bottle now - hope it settles down soon!

Just remembered we have antibiotic + steroid cream from when I had an infected bite - wondering if it’s safe to use that on delicate areas!

I have experienced the same in the past, really painful I know Flowers. You are doing the best you can, painkillers, I found a hot fannel used as a compress helped too. Until it bursts the pain will be bad. Can you see if you can get a GP appt & antibiotics OP. Good luck I hope you feel much better soon.

I was prescribed oral antibiotics by GP. I wouldn’t use treatment prescribed for another area of the body, without checking first.

I get them frequently. Some times they burst, sometimes they just go away. Just keep it clean and don't touch it!! Good luck

Thanks for the lovely responses - I’ve had little ones before very occasionally (again usually after a long period) but they just settle down and go. This one is already bigger and much more painful.

I’m guessing if you go to the GP they’ll have to examine it - I had a traumatic experience with a gynaecologist quite a few years ago and I really struggle with examinations at this point so was hoping to avoid that, but if the pain is still bad tomorrow I’ll have to.

I go through phases of getting these - usually little but once or twice bigger and more painful.

I would use a hot flannel (also Bath?) to try and encourage it to burst.

My GP looked at the first one, just to make certain it was a cyst, after that he just took my word for it. If you need to see GP, you should be offered a chaperone, if you need an examination. Sorry you had a bad experience in the past. Flowers

Thanks all. The pain is nowhere near as bad now but I am on strong painkillers for another condition so hard to tell - will see how it goes.

Thank you @Roselilly36 - I’ve had an awful lot of gynae treatment but that was a particularly terrible experience and I really struggle now. But I suppose it would just be quite a quick superficial exam so I should be okay.

Try sitting in salt water baths. Might help
