Shop-owners, If you had/have a shop - what would you sell?

As the title suggests, really!

I’m interested to know what people would sell if they had the opportunity to start their own business. What would do if you had the money, time, resource etc to run your own shop - be it online/offline or both.

If you’ve done it, what did you do?!

I always fancied selling homemade cakes and handmade souvenirs from local artists. It helps that I live in a coastal area popular with tourists..

HBU?

I be proprietor of book shop which never sold any books, like Bernard from Black Books. It would be above a pub owned my DP, who would only open and serve drinks when he felt like it.

Pretty rocks (crystals) and stuff associated with pretty rocks.

I've had a micro Etsy shop for a couple of years but now the DC are older I decided to expand and bought a lot of stock just before the lockdowns last year. Spent the summer working out what sells.

In my dreams I have a real shop, but then I'd have had overheads and need to be present each day, rather than being able to pick if today is the day I order, sort, send stock, or sod it and do something else. But my dream shop has very pretty rocks and has a treatment room out back (in my youth I did a 2 year crystal healing diploma - never used except for friends and family)

In reality I mostly sell acrylic sphere holders and palo santo incense.

Disclaimer - I know this woo stuff isn't for everyone and no I'm not interested in hearing your opinion on my legit business.

@elfycat ooh an Etsy veteran! Did you enjoy selling through that route? If I had an ounce of talent I might explore it myself... 😂

@Noshowlomo someone wittier than me can surely come up with a business name for this. I love it.

@Flatwhitewhiner

I must like it. One of my hobbies is selling vintage jewellery on another Etsy shop. I haven't really added much as the last year was useless for buying stuff and I hate online auctions. Gave it a go but stopped after three.

It's not all knitting and art.

Books, written by or about women, fiction and non fiction, got my eye on a wee shop at the moment and a name too, but I don’t know if there is a real market out there.
